March 18, 2012 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- A 6-year-old girl was one of at least six people killed and dozens of people wounded as violence erupted across Chicago this weekend.

The separate incidents occurred Friday and Sunday mornings. The girl's death reportedly has shocked those in her Little Village neighborhood.

According to witnesses, Aliyah Shell was on her front porch with her parents Saturday afternoon in the 3100-block of South Springfield when a pickup truck pulled up and started shooting, hitting the little girl twice -- once in the chest.

A neighbor rushed to help the family when the shooting happened.

"I couldn't believe it. This guy had a cowboy hat on. It just looked like two normal guys who were saying hello or something. I just heard four gunshots and then a lot of screaming after that," said neighbor Reynaldo Navarro said. "Poor thing got hit, and she was still running around trying to get in the house. That's the thing that sticks out in my mind."

Some residents in the area say the shooting was gang-related.

Chicago police said they were questioning two people, but they were not calling them suspects early Sunday.

According to the Sun-Times Media Wire, at least six other people were killed, and 33 people were wounded in shootings in the city since Friday night.

Besides the death of the 6-year-old girl, this weekend's fatal shootings include:

At approximately 10:10 p.m., a 40-year-old woman driving south was wounded in the buttock when a bullet came the door of her vehicle in the 1400-block of South Pulaski Road, police said.

Mostly the South Side, but Chicago is extremely dangerous these days. At least the good people still have a wonderful Mayor.
Nice guy / True political outsider / Might be a closet Ron Paul supporter. :p

Just wait until the summer hunting season kicks in. Its not unusual to have ~50 people shot in a weekend. Still, incidents where people have defeneded themselves with a gun is now on the rise after McDonald V. Chicago. Regardless of whether folks comply with the draconian registration, they are still arming them selves.

...while the officials will bicker about how many are staffed in their security details.

Jesus Christ...

And to think, people were shocked when, in NH, for the whole freaking state, for the whole freaking year, there were 23 murders in 2011 compared to 18 in 2010.
