Ron Paul Draws Massive Crowd Of 5000 In Illinois

Campaign forced to move event to arena as thousands turn up; rivals draw crowds of less than 100

GOP presidential contender Ron Paul continues to draw massive crowds as he campaigns across the country. Yesterday saw almost five thousand people turn out in Illinois to see the Congressman, while his rivals can only draw crowds in and below the hundreds.

Paul’s supporters will once again be asking serious questions as to where his rivals are getting their votes from, as another raucous mass of humanity provided the Congressman with a rock star welcome.

The original venue of Foellinger Auditorium, around a 1500 capacity building at The University of Illinois, had to be switched to George Huff Hall, a gymnastics and volleyball arena, following a deluge of early RSVPs.

As he introduced Paul, Illinois Republican Rep. Tim Johnson told the crowd that they were part of the single biggest turnout of Paul’s 2012 campaign to date.

Temperatures reached 80 degrees outside, yet the un-air conditioned Huff Hall was bursting with supporters who boisterously chanted “President Paul” over and over.

Paul spoke for around 45 minutes on a host of issues including The Federal Reserve, the IRS, The Patriot Act, and even the issue of students being able to choose their own mascots.

“The Patriot Act never would have been passed,” Paul urged, “if it had been called ‘Repeal the Fourth Amendment’!”

The Congressman also told the huge crowd that since the current administration passed laws by executive orders, a “constitutional president can use an executive order to repeal those laws.”

“We have a reasonably good constitution,” Paul added. “It’s just — we need to use it once in a while. "

Indeed he did. And just like the Reuters national poll in Feb showing Ron in 2d with 21% (at that time), we aren't seeing mention of any of this on any of the national media.

We sure aren't, Sailing.

Truly awesome.

I wish that we could see some real shots of the crowds for Romney and Santorum. The shots from the linked webpage don't really show much (except for the one of Gingrich - it's pretty obvious how small that crowd is .)

A photograph from behind the candidates would be truly telling.

Ya, where is he on national media? Out drawing on a 10^3 x 5 basis and not a photo or interview afterwards?

The media is silent. I was waiting on a repair to my can so I had to listen to the "Today Show". They "covered the gop race" they talked about everyone but Ron Paul.

Thanks for the pics. I am posting these to facebook and asking why it isn't news.

It is time to decloak. And I'm a person that drives around with giant RP stickers on my car, so please don't give me any crap for that comment.

I do not understand why someone is not there with some professional video audio equipment recoding this so we can plaster it all over the net.

This is starting to get really worrying, all these big crowds and no wins. There must be fraud going on :/

I hope someone puts together a site of all these large turn outs with a side by side comparison with the other candidates. Sending that around would speak volumes to people.

Of course the media isn't covering this - the big networks no longer have reporters covering Paul. Why don't they have reporters covering Paul? Because he hasn't been doing anything newsworthy.
