Cool map. Can drill right down and look at how ridiculously low turnout was at the precinct level. Also nice to see the precincts RP won in. Was setting up a volunteer here and he was inspired to see that RP had won his in 08...

Play around with the drop-downs.

When you look at it in scale like this you can see that is not that hard to win your neighborhood. Many will vote just for you, because you asked/dragged them down, and in many places finding 20 people will be much more than enough...

For example, lets look at ED 117 in AD (Assembly District) 73. On the map linked above it will be labeled ED 73-117. It is the NE block at 92nd Street and 1st Av on Manhattan. In that precinct 17 people voted in the GOP primary, total. 11 voted for Huckabee, 1 for Romney, 1 for McCain and 4 for Paul.

I imagine most of those Huck supporters will be looking at Santorum, so it is probably a good neighborhood to contrast voting records on issues like Planned Parenthood or Debt Limits...

Think about that. 17 votes, total... I bet most of you could get a dozen or two people in your neighborhood to vote, just because you ask...

This is another cool map (http://gis.nyc.gov/doitt/nycitymap/) for NYC for a general look at CDs ADs and EDs. The radio buttons for "municipal boundries" are in the "show additional data" side tab. You'll need to zoom in for some buttons to become active. (Note the gerrymandering of CD8 as it snakes down the waterfront, reaching Coney Island, lol...)

What we are doing is sending out volunteers with two objectives, win their ED and identify people in neighboring EDs to do the same.

The first stage is a recon of the ED using a Voter Registration drive as camouflage. ID buildings we need to get captains for, and table in high traffic zones around those buildings...

Spreading liberty...
