you can't get scammed if you hold on to your money, there's no such thing as saver's remorse (there is, but not here for sure)

getting Ron Paul elected and Kony will no longer be a problem, because obviously Kony got in power because of US intervention....right?

Well, foreign aid, agricultural subsidies, sugar tariffs, and the drug war have all crippled Africa, so... in a sense, yeah.

I prefer Molyneux's take, personally. Easier to share his; he gets a little riled up, but he's not screaming the entire time.

I don't really think so, at least not directly. Admittedly, I haven't read much on the situation, but the conflict between the LRA and the Ugandan National Army seems to be a fight over resource distribution at its very core. Northern Uganda seems to be lacking in resources (the LRA is primarily from northern Uganda, from what I can understand), so all the wealth that may be in Uganda is concentrated in the southern part. The Ugandan government has basically adopted a policy of supporting southern Uganda's economy while essentially ignoring the northern part.

When the European powers partitioned Uganda during the age of colonialism, they apparently didn't take into consideration the already-existing divisions among linguistic and cultural lines between the north and south Ugandans, so this is another example of arbitrary lines being drawn on a map that grouped historically antagonistic people together.

However, perhaps on a larger level, we can say that US intervention caused economic disruption in other African countries, perhaps making it harder for the north Ugandans to stop depending on agriculture as the primary feature of their economy. I don't really think US intervention directly led to the situation Uganda is facing now, though.

I don't know about that. There are people who wish they'd been kinder, more helpful, more generous. I just "donate" locally or to people I know pretty well. That takes the guesswork out of it. I also don't donate anything I'll miss.

Just a weird way Americans have for an idea to get things done.

Step 1 Make someone a celebrity
Step 2 Activate empire to take them down

anybody who is unhappy that Kony campaign only spends 30% on the actual efforts and has a 70% overhead, ought to demand the political campaigns, PACs and other grassroots efforts which you donate to, are better than that. They are not always.
