Hey, someone mentioned in my local meetup here in Central Texas that the date to file as a precinct chair is actually June 1st. Look at the second page here: http://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/forms/pol-sub/2-1f.pdf

The filing deadline is 6:00 p.m. on June 1, 2012 for candidates for precinct chair. (Federal Court Orders Issued
in Redistricting Litigation)

Ok, so I'm interested in being a precinct chair, but what does this entail? Will I be able to help Ron Paul this election cycle?

Frothy is going to win TX so please try to be delegates for as many of the 4 as possible if its not too late.

Not if I can help it! :) I'm definitely interested in being a delegate too, but I'm honestly completely confused about the whole process. The redistricting in Texas has really changed so many things! How can I find out if my precinct is still having a convention? Heck, how can I even find out which precinct I'm in now? I looked on the Travis County website and I found a map of all the precincts but it didn't indicate if it was the precincts before the redistricting or after... http://www.co.travis.tx.us/maps/GoTo_TaxOffice_map.asp

Please help!

Really? I should check with my buddy there and make sure he's filed, or he gets one of his boys to. We need as many as we can get, great find :)

If this site is set up for TX like the one is locally for me then it should give you the info on where you'd vote/what precinct you're in ect.
https://team1.sos.state.tx.us/voterws/viw/faces/SearchSelectionVoter.jsp

Then there's this which seems to have a lot of info
http://www.votetexas.gov/

but never having voted in TX I can't vouch for either site from personal experience.

Hope someone can get you more help, in the mean time maybe these will get you started :)

Thank you, PolicyReader. With that first link I was able to finally find my precinct. Unfortunately, it seems that I won't be able to help in this capacity this election cycle. I searched on this website (http://www.traviscountygop.org/get-involved/be-a-precinct-chair.html) and it looks like my precinct already has a chairman. Boo! I would run against him for the next election cycle (unless he's a Ron Paul supporter, of course! :)) but I'm going to be moving in 6 months, so that would be ill advised, correct?

I did send him an e-mail asking how I could get involved in my local GOP so hopefully I hear back soon. I also asked him if my precinct is still planning on having a convention, which I think the all of the ones in Travis County are.

While this isn't the news I wanted to find, I still have a lot to aim for - becoming a Ron Paul DELEGATE!

I can't see Santorum winning Texas.

Your conclusions sound spot on to me, glad I could help :)

I sure hope he doesn't, tho I'd rather him than Romney (due to the delegate math). Best case is for Paul to take majority, but failing that Newt having a strong showing would be optimum. However a lot of the demographic projections I've seen have Santorum taking the lions share in TX. I surely hope you're right and their wrong :)

You might want to update the thread title and first post, you can file for precinct chair until June 1st.

From the thread in the Texas forum, my experience while filing.
http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?365471-Filing-period-for-Precint-Chair-positions-reopened-THIS-WEEK-ONLY

FYI If you haven't filed for Precinct Chair yet, there is still time.

I read on a facebook post you could file till June 1st, I also asked at the County party office. Also to make extra sure I found this.

From here: http://www.texasgop.org/elections

Note: Filing deadline for precinct chair falls on June 1, 2012.

Note: The primary ballot will contain all public offices that are scheduled to be on the general election ballot on November 6, 2012 (except offices for expired terms that become vacant after March 5, 2012) and all party offices, except the office of precinct chair. If the office of precinct chair is contested, it will appear on the runoff primary election ballot on July 31, 2012, in accordance with the 3/1/2012 federal court order.
