This is why I hate it when people say "It's not about the man"

Find me another who can even compare to Ron and I'll agree with you. Otherwise, I'm more than happy if Ron chairs a liberty organization, pays himself an outrageously huge salary, and continues to lead the movement from there.

Yep, pretty much.
I won't go as far as using the word "hate", because I do understand the theory behind such statements.
Nonethelees, I firmly believe that the movement is best advanced with a central figure and spokesman around whom we can coalesce.
And where is this figure? IMHO, the 'marketplace' has come up rather short in providing a viable and proven alternative to Ron.
We soon, perhaps even tomorrow, may find a person adopting Ron's rhetoric, but will they have the decades-old record to back it up? I think not. And we are thus left with a vacuum for years to come.
Sadly, as one of the more 'mature' members of this forum, I'm afraid I don't have another thirty years to wait.

Good stuff. Ron needs to feature those quotes in an ad.

I've read Jack Abramoff's auto...doesn't say too much about the candidates. He does not care for Newt at all...thought Newt made stupid comments about all indians being rich and the Mariana Islands should be annexed by Hawaii.

Doesn't mention Santorum in the book, but Jack has worked with him. Jack got him to support a bill for the Mariana Islands and then later arranged to have his connections at the island give money to Santorum in a fund raiser. Below is a link with emails from Jack mentioning a meeting with Rick:

Don't know about Jack and Mitt. Supposedly there is a connection between Jack and the Mormon mafia:

Now Mitt is not above lobbying...as we saw with getting the education department to suppport the Salt Lake games and lobbying in 1999 for a steel bailout of Bain's GSI Steel (which Santorum voted for).
