I'm paraphrasing here, but Jonathan Alter and Keith were talking about the war and the candidates, and Jonathan Alter said that everyone was going to keep the troops over there (or keep the war going or something like that) EXCEPT FOR RON PAUL.

Keith just kept moving right along with no reaction.

That's the first mention I can remember on Countdown.

And to think I used to like Olbermann for speaking out. He just goes to show he's no better than those he speaks out about on his soapbox

Olbermann's too much of a liberal for him to truly buddy up to Ron Paul. They'd agree on the war and that's about where it'd end.

Yep, I listened to it, as well.

Olbermann did not respond to the mention whatsoever, but that was the first mention I've heard on Countdown.

Keith just kept moving right along with no reaction.

That's the first mention I can remember on Countdown.

I wrote a letter to Keith about 6 weeks ago. I commended him on his well researched, organized and poignant commentary. In particular I pointed out how well he went over the destruction of the Bill of Rights and the Constitution. I also pointed out he asked a question, directly and bug-eyed into everyone's living room. The question was "Who amongst us will end this war?!?!?!"

I pointed out Ron Paul would and he would restore the constitution and bill of rights to their former glory. I asked him to look into these matters for himself. It's starting to look like either Keith never cared at all and was himself using melodramatic fearmongering for audience, OR, he's owned.

I have little to no respect left for Keith Olbermann.

Keith Olbermann is a progressive socialist. He's not going to support Ron Paul, because he wants the government to save the children, fix our energy dependences, etc etc.

The rest of the show contained a segment about President Bush's veto of some bill. Olbermann crabbed because Bush doesn't mind funding the war, but the real travesty is, apparently, that he won't fund Democratic pork too.

Whether or not Olbermann would support Ron Paul is supposed to be a moot point. I do however agree that he wouldn't support him because he really gravitates towards a socialist society.

"Give us the facts mam, only the facts." <-- An old saying from some 50's cop show, the name escapes me right now. I refer this comment to the news anchors, not the prior post.

In order to understand people like Keith Olbermann, we need to understand how false opposition works. Here's a great article...

Olbermann doesn't want his viewers to know that Ron Paul exists.

Olbermann is stuck in the "ignore" phase. Perhaps his partisan wiring and preprogrammed perceptual matrix have malfunctioned when it comes to processing Paul, so he short circuits when the thought of Paul comes up.

He needs to catch a bus though, the train has already left the station.

K.O and I had actually a pretty good email exchange about Ron Paul a few months back. He responded to me with a few in depth responses and it was good and respectful dialog.

He agrees with Ron Paul some things, but I think he doesn't give him any mention because he is afraid RP might seriously upset the apple cart, and he is very opposed to RP on abortion and a few other issues.

I also think that Keith is smart enough not to go on attack against RP because on the issues that K.O likes to go on tirades about (habeas corpus, Constitution, etc) no one holds a candle to RP and HE KNOWS IT!) He was a big fan of Kucinich, and I think he mentioned one other lesser known Demo that he quite liked. Might have been Gravel.

The only reason why I like Olbermann is because he speaks out against Bush,Military Commissions Act and Patriot Act.
