For those that missed it...i'll paraphrase.

Lou Dobbs: I hate basically all but 2 candidates, only these 2 are making any sense whatsoever.
Lou Dobbs: Those are Ron Paul and John Edwards, they are the only ones that have any good point and are saying something i agree with. Now Ron Paul managed to raise 4 million dollars in one day, that just shows you what can happen when people get excited about something.

But Medved was absolutely correct in his statement critical of Lous push to have everyone register as independent, as this takes away the voters chance to vote for change in the primaries.

I just barely caught it. What was it that medved said about not being able to vote in the primaries if you are registered independent and that might get a fringe candidate elected????

Lou Dobbs has a rather large following and I think a lot of the people that watch his show who haven't already heard of Dr. Paul will totally get behind him once they find out what he's all about.

Nothing bad can come of Lou Dobbs speaking positively about Ron Paul, especially since he was one of only two presidential candidates that Lou likes!

Edwards is a socialist/populist on economic issues. And in Lou Dobbs' muddled mind, that's a positive. If somehow, Ron Paul was an economic socialist who wanted to close the borders, Lou would probably want to be his running mate . . or his wife.

The fact that Lou Dobbs doesn't "hate" our guy is fine with me. But if Lou liked him too much, probably not too many of us would like Ron very much.

You're right, he is very intelligent. If you were a democrat and someone you thought was completely unbiased all of a suddenly throws all his political weight behind a single republican out of nowhere..... Would you not lose at least SOME respect for his opinions? Kucinich and Edwards are for Democrats what Ron Paul is for republicans (only minus a few thousand awesome points). I support what he said whole heartedly... For one, it will divide democrats, two it will introduce people of both parties to Ron Paul, and three, it doesn't cost Dobbs any political *credit* to semi-endorse a candidate, as long as he endorses one from each party.

I think he knows this and worded it very carefully. He didn't harp on Edwards after that statement either, he harped on Paul and the fact that people are excited about his message.

What did he say?

Medved was pimping for the parties, saying that anyone who didn't choose a side was wrong-headed, and went on to lie and say New Hampshire had the only open primary in the country.

Dobb's turned around and reminded him that thanks to our wonderfully partisan political system our last election consisted of 2 Privileged, White, Male, Yale Graduates who were both Skull and Bones.

You can also look at the 'enemy of my enemy is my friend' aspect for Lou to give kind words to Edwards, as he is the one democrat who is openly bashing Hillary the most...more so than Obama lately...

Let Lou continue to mention RP in good light, as often as possible, continue to dislike the 'others' from either party...is all good for us.

Agreed 100%.

Lou is pushing for an INDEPENDENT candidate, and used Ron Paul's big fundraising as an example of what is possible when the people get behind you. His book is called "Independent's Day", and his crusade is for everyone to quit supporting the parties and register Independent. This isn't about his support of Ron Paul, and his message is hurting Ron's campaign.

Edwards

In rural America, hunting and gun ownership is a way of life. (Sep 2007)
Don't need AK-47 to hunt; renew assault weapons ban. (Jul 2007)
Right to bear arms protected by Second Amendment, with rules. (Mar 2004)
Hunting is fine, but criminals & kids should have limits. (Jan 2004)
Leading Dems distance themselves from divisive gun debate. (Oct 2003)
Guns are about independence-don't mess with that. (Oct 2003)
Voted YES on background checks at gun shows. (May 1999)
Voted NO on more penalties for gun & drug violations. (May 1999)
Voted NO on loosening license & background checks at gun shows. (May 1999

Now you all see a hypocrit here?
There is no way in hell that anyone who is against guns and are for more gun laws will become president. No way in hell. That is the only reason Bush got elected I believe is because his stance on guns was pro. There is no way.
70 million americans owns guns. Americans own 30% of all the guns in the world.
There will not be two anti-gunners going against each other.Rudy doesn't have a hope in hell to win the GOP nomination nor does rommey. Them 2 can be eliminated right now. Republicans love their guns. Everyone who is for more gun laws can be eliminated out of the race allready on the Rep side. This is what we should work on.We do not have to worry about anyone who is against guns on the rep side.

Here is John Edwards at CFR with fairy tales about foreign interventions:
Our leaders resisted the imperial temptation to force our will by virtue of our unmatched strength. Instead, they built bonds of trust founded on restraint, the rule of law, and good faith. They were magnanimous out of strength, not weakness... We saw the power of this relationship during the Cold War, when America deterred the Soviet Union from its quest for world domination. We saw it when we established the United Nations and NATO, which have done so much for peace and human rights. After the Cold War, we saw it in Bosnia, where we helped broker a lasting peace. And we saw it again in Kosovo, where we joined our NATO allies to stop a brutal war criminal from perpetrating another campaign of ethnic cleansing. Lou Dobbs is probably a fan of Ron Paul for his stance on NAFTA and other trade agreements, but he does not oppose them for the same reasons Ron Paul opposes them. Lou Dobbs is a populist who says what people want to hear but he is not a libertarian. He shows his ignorance on trade and economic issues every time he addresses the subject.

Don Boudreaux, chairman of the Economics Department at George Mason University published this open letter to Lou Dobbs:

http://www.csmonitor.com/2007/0104/p09s02-coop.html?s=hns

A quote from the link:

with free trade, the economy becomes larger than any one nation - a fact that brings more human creativity, more savings, more capital, more specialization, more opportunity, more competition, and a higher standard of living to all those who can freely trade

Here is another excellent short article on the virtues of free trade:
http://www.foreignpolicy.com/story/cms.php?story_id=4044

We should welcome every positive mention and endorsement of Ron Paul but Lou Dobbs is not in favor of liberty.

Edwards has opposed trade deals like NAFTA. Dobbs is highly critical of current trade agreements.

Clinton/Gore ran commercials promising the unions they would oppose NAFTA, then Gore cast the deciding vote in favor of it.

Edwards is a globalist CFR stooge. Whatever position you think he has now, he would fall right into line later.
