You guys need to read this...can somebody get it to Doug Wead? Even if the campaign and Ron made a simple phone call to the leaders of Guam, it would make him a choice.

They just want to beat Obama.

Also read this:

A little tease on what the Guam GOP convention is going to look like.

I can't do all of the territories guys, I need help.

Somebody please start looking up US Virgin Islands and Northern Mariana Islands and start a thread on it.

Get information, organize it and send it to Doug Wead or the Campaign.

What is absolutely crucial is tracking down the grassroots organizers in these areas and asking them what they need help with.

There is quite a bit of information in this thread as well thanks to other members who have done research for us.

Come on...we can't give these delegates up without a damn fight, especially when it looks like Romney is going to swoop in and just take them simply because he is establishment.

We have surrogates going to Hawaii on that day so maybe they can contact Guam as well...

You do have to factor the time zone difference in though. I think its like 11 hour difference?
Don't quote me on that.

So Romney and Santorum are wooing the Guam GOP? I bet the Paul campaign won't do jackshit about it, and Guam will be given up just like that. Paul has a big family, why can't a couple of his family members go to Guam and camp out there for a couple of days to woo them?

The republican party of Guam sounds more like a private country club than a democratically elected organization.

From: http://mvguam.com/local/news/22594-romney-son-to-visit-guam-woo-gop-.html

This Saturday, at the Sheraton Laguna Resort at 9 a.m., approximately 300 delegates, alternates, village and precinct leaders and guests of the Republican Party will meet to elect state party and national committee officers as well as delegates and alternate delegates to the national convention to be held in Tampa, Fla. in August.

Cruz said Gov. Calvo, Minority Leader Frank Blas Jr. and the chairman of the party automatically become delegates and will be recognized via a resolution. 300 people get to decide the delegates for 180,000 people? And they get 9 total delegates to send to the convention? While a state like Michigan which has about 9,800,000 people only gets to send 30 delegates?

The republican party is sooo messed up.

this was to be expected...their convention was basically for establishment folk.

Growing up there, I expected Romney to take it. There is a lot of cronyism and insider deals in Guam politics, and they lean moderate left, but very status-quo. I'm sure there are RP supporters there, but it's tough to penetrate the political machine on Guam.

A waste of time and energy at this point. Matt Romney and his wife landed today in Guam and Mitt just received the endorsement of the Guam Governor Republican Eddie Calvo.

The nine delegates to the National Convention are picked by 251 delegates that are party officials from the 19 villages of Guam.

Only Romney and Santorum's Campaign's have reached out for the support of the Guam Republican Establishment. Neither Paul nor Gingrich's Campaign's even called.

You can read it at www.Guampdn.com and weep. Nothing to see here, let's move on to another State. And Oh by the way with the time difference they are actually starting the Caucus right now.

Not to get off track... But why is that a country like NK or Cuba (which claim to be democratic) can have a monopoly or duopoly of parties and have restricted party elections which garners a lot of criticism...yet when the US does the same thing, it's not the same?

I hope the other territories don't have sham elections like what Guam had...

Interesting article seawolf...

The presidential campaigns for Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul have not reached out to the Guam Republican leaders, Cruz said.

Cruz is the Republican convention of Guam.

How was Ron supposed to 'reach out' to a mere 300 elite voters? Offer them government jobs? Offer them privileged legislation? Offer them money under the table? Probably perfectly allowable under Republican rules...as corrupt as Guam is, the Mariana Islands are probably going to be worse :( These are the islands that launched Jack Abramoff's career.

Like I said rpwi, Guam and the NMI's are a waste of time. Entrenched Republican Party Officials....no hope for Ron in this part of the Pacific.

Maybe in Hawaii next week...but this thread can just die now.

Sorry man, its 7pm here on Guam. There was no chance. Everyone here is on the government dole. Their fate is entwined with the military build-up out here and that will only be guaranteed by establishment candidates who want more foreign interventionism.

Exactly and the same is true in the Marianas and American Samoa. Oh, and we haven't begun to discuss the high proportion of Mormons in these places as well.

Actually Paul does have a good chance of winning the Virginia Islands and maybe even Puerto Rico given the tiny turn outs for GOP events.

Romney sweeps Guam and the marianas.

WASHINGTON, March 10 (UPI) -- Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney swept caucuses in Guam and the Northern Marianas Saturday with more than 80 percent of the vote in both, results showed.

Romney captured 84 percent of the vote in the GOP caucus in Guam and 87 percent in the Northern Marianas, winning all nine delegates in each of the U.S. territories in the Pacific Ocean, ABC News reported.

Maybe in Hawaii next week...but this thread can just die now.Anyone that's lived or has been stationed on Guam knows the political processes and government are a joke. Criminals to the max... all they want are more Federal Reserve notes... they can give shit less about Americans, but now have to show more support, because of so many more haloes (howl-lees) on the island.

Hafa Adai! HALF A DAY...in other words, how much do they work on Guam.

PS: They suree do love the Military Industrial Complex machine funding their island.
