You've probably seen the clip from this show where Ron Paul suggests the government put the chubby guy on a diet, it's circulated quite a bit in recent years and is fairly popular, but I had never seen the whole segment of this. There is plenty still cut out, but you get a sense of just how hostile this crowd(and even the host!) was to him. It was fairly obvious after watching this that the audience was stacked with anti-drug use fanatics.

Anyways, this clip got me thinking. This showing reinforced the fact that Ron Paul was a LOT more confrontational back in the day. He was a god damn firebrand radical and the Ron Paul that we know today and that most people are being introduced to for the first time is lot more user-friendly.

I wonder if he were more alpha in the debates like he used to be if he would be more successful, or if him toning it down so much is what has brought him more mainstream recognition.

"..it would alarm a few of us in this country if all of the sudden we knew that the leader of the Soviet Union would be the head KGB agent and here we take our head CIA agent and put him potentially put him at the head of our entire country."

Ok, I've said before and I always notice this, but WHO TALKS LIKE THIS? No one. Can you imagine Rick Santorum calling out or confronting controversial CIA policy? Ain't happening. More and more I find it amazing how unique a figure Ron Paul is and my appreciation for him grows daily.

Sorry, I'm on a Younger Ron Paul video kick and I will be constantly updating this thread whether you like it or not. Feast on the tasty ribs of radicalism with me as we plunge deep into a pool of Ron Paul nostalgia.
