You've probably seen the clip from this show where Ron Paul suggests the government put the chubby guy on a diet, it's circulated quite a bit in recent years and is fairly popular, but I had never seen the whole segment of this. There is plenty still cut out, but you get a sense of just how hostile this crowd(and even the host!) was to him. It was fairly obvious after watching this that the audience was stacked with anti-drug use fanatics.
Anyways, this clip got me thinking. This showing reinforced the fact that Ron Paul was a LOT more confrontational back in the day. He was a god damn firebrand radical and the Ron Paul that we know today and that most people are being introduced to for the first time is lot more user-friendly.
I wonder if he were more alpha in the debates like he used to be if he would be more successful, or if him toning it down so much is what has brought him more mainstream recognition.
