I remember at the St. Petes straw Paul '08, the Romney campaign was handing out money to whatever few Mitt supporters were there, to just stand there and vote for him dozens of times over, making it seem as if he had more supporters there then actually were to vote for him. RP won it anyway. ;)

Mitt stuff aside, why would those people, who showed up without signs, agree to hold one for the duration of the rally and wave it? If I went to the local baseball game without a big foamy #1 finger, and someone handed me one so that I could wave it throughout the game and then give it back, I'd think they were crazy.
