They're taking this world-domination thing pretty seriously.

Why do I have the feeling that once we pay for this it will fall into UN hands...?

Hmm....

They also want to create a space station in which a company of Marines would be housed and could drop down on any point on earth within 90 minutes.

Personally I like it. Just think. If any missile is launched, post parked USA, within ten minutes the host nation is glass. Pretty good deterrent if you ask me.

Actually they may already have this. I saw something three nights ago when out looking for the comet; it was a huge red/orange streak that shot across sky about the same speed as a satellite. It looked like it entered and exited the atmosphere in about 1 second.

Ron Paul was for SDI in the 80's, and today he speaks about strengthening the Navy since the Navy basically can land troops/bombs/aid/whatever anywhere in the world on a moments notice.

I like it. Dominating space is critical for national security, and it's importance can only increase.

We already have that capability.

This seems to be for offensive capabilities rather than a defensive one or a deterrent. With neo-chickenhawks in office, I shudder to think of how they'll use this.

We already have enough military might -- and nukes -- to completely depopulate the Earth. We really should focus on paying down the debt, etc. before we focus on new military toys.

Besides which, the idea of the neo-cons controlling this thing scares the hell out of me.

"That's no moon. It's a space station."

It is only good as long as the constitution is honored.
