Michigan has 30 delegates (59, but 50% penalty applies).

The threshold for getting a slice of these proportionally-awarded delegates is 15%. Right now, it looks like only Gingrich misses out.

Folks, we have a real chance of getting as many as 6 or 7 delegates in Michigan. At least, perhaps 4 or 5.

Every delegate counts... Good luck to our grassroots in Michigan!

Actually, not necessarily. The 30 delegates are now handed out like this, 14 winner-take all congressional districts, each giving out two delegates to its winner. 14*2=28 delegates. That leaves two statewide delegates that are awarded proportionally. Those two delegates will be received probably by the 1st and 2nd place person (one for each). The delegates the state lost were the statewide, at large delegates that are handed out proportionally. Originally it was 28-winner take all (2 for each of the 14 CDs) and 31 delegates proportionally statewide (needing 15% to be eligible). Well they lost 29 delegates....and those 29 came from the 31 proportional delegates.
