I'm just betting that is why the party is recanvassing the caucuses, though, once it was shown the ones they left out would have delivered more votes to Paul, they had to find votes missed for Romney. Never mind the 70 Paul delegates they threw out in Portland (but not the straw poll which I guess narrowly favored Romney....)

I will believe them acknowledging a win for Ron when I see it. I guess I don't want to set myself up for another let down there.

Two states taken away from Romney? Pow Pow

If a change in Maine, it will not make a difference in how Ron is received by the Republicans. His negatives will still be gigantically too high unfortunately - 50-60% unfavorables.

This if anything will be a moral victory for us.

Hi,

I'd like to first say thank you, truly, for valuing the democratic process and recounting the votes (and counting the votes you omitted). Secondly, I'd like to say that many of us have reported numbers from the ground in Kennebec, Waldo and in other areas of the state, many of which were originally omitted. Needless to say we will be cross-examining each town to ensure correct totals. We know what we should see tomorrow.

Best,
Carter

I won't say we're going to be the winner because I've been let down before and right now I have a gut feeling that they will announce either Rick Santorum somehow is the winner or Mitt Romney got even more votes than they thought and he is now being elected to the office of President of the United State of Maine.

Friday's announcement by the Maine GOP:

"Guess what, we can now re-certify that Mitt Romney won the Maine straw poll. And he has an even bigger lead than before. So there is no point in even showing up tomorrow in Washington County or the other locations, which we might not even count (unless, of course, Romney wins them)."

If Ben Swann is saying that he has the new numbers and that we could have a new winner on Saturday, why does everybody think that Romney will get a boost in votes. From the way he worded it, it sounds like Ron got the boost and only he would know that because he has the new numbers. The question is, how did he get them so early?

We don't think Romney is getting more votes in reality. The Maine GOP Chairman is claiming that Romney is getting more votes in the recounts though despite the fact that our findings point tot he opposite - we think they are planning to try and pull a sleight of hand of some sort. Swan has gotten the numbers from places that voted but weren't counted for some strange reason...he probably just called the towns and asked for them would be my guess. These are people who are annoyed with the Maine GOP for not counting their votes, so I imagine they would be quick to pass them on to the media...

If somehow the "revised" straw poll numbers go our way and Ron Paul Wins, then it is perfect timing to end the NOPB Money Bomb and start a brand new one: "The Maine Victory Money Bomb" The Official Campaign needs to be ready to jump on this fast!!!

We need something new if and I say if it happens, because the NOPB Money Bomb has run its course and frankly has had underwhelming results.

If you have any ideas for an Instant Money Bomb Name if we actually win the straw poll, please I and I am sure the Campaign would love to here them.

Demographically, Washington county is
-slightly older than most of maine (bad)
-they're are slightly more women than men (not really statistically significant)
-relatively poor (good, no wealthy 'burbs for mittens)

No, the gap is 131 votes.

Waldo:
Romney - 24
Santorum - 47
Paul - 71

Waterville:
Romney - 5
Paul - 21

Previous gap was 194.

194 + 24 + 5 = 223

Agreed absolutely, but based off the numbers we have right now. HIS numbers + the Rome numbers. The difference is 155 votes. Romney had 50 votes (not 24 votes) gained in Waldo. So our increase was not as much as we had thought, but we can still make up the difference on Saturday and the possible change of other votes.
