Suddenly when Obama issues a mandate on contraceptives, the Catholic rears its head but when innocent people are dying at the hands of US troops in the Middle East they are no where to be found...hmm. Makes you wonder. I guess as long as it is not us dying no one cares right?

Actually Pope John Paul II was very much opposed to the war in Iraq and it caused some controversy among American Catholics. I remember at that time many said that although the Pope was right to be opposed to war in general, he didn't have inside knowledge of the situation like Dubya supposedly did so American Catholics could feel free to ignore him.
I don't think the current Pope has been as outspoken about the wars in the Middle East, though. Or maybe the media just doesn't cover any anti-war statements that he makes now that Obama is president.

Perhaps the media hasn't covered it...but in any event the media certainly plays up the culture war stuff to divide us and distract us...where is the courage of the catholic church with all the talk about bombing Iran...

Go listen to the Joker speech in the last Batman movie about people dying being "All part of the plan" so no one panics. It gives a good perspective on how people react. Nobody expects something and everyone freaks out, but if we expect 1 in 10 school children to get killed before graduation, and it was "part of the plan", no one other than the parents would probably give two squirts of piss.

Good question that two catholics candidates Santorum and Gingrich should be also asked at next debate.
On a related note, at least we know where Baptist Church was:
