REMEMBER!

The Caucus only determines who the National delegates must vote for in the first RNC ballots. If a brokered convention happens, we need those delegates to be Ron Paul supporters.

Delegates are chosen at later conventions;
http://www.thegreenpapers.com/P12/KS-R
Friday 30 March - Tuesday 24 April 2012: Congressional District Conventions. 3 National Convention District Delegates are elected in each of the state's 4 Congressional Districts according to the results of the Caucuses. [Section V. 1 and 1. A.]

Tuesday 24 April - Sunday 1 July 2012 (tentative): State Party Committee Meeting. At-Large National Convention Delegates are elected according to the results of the Caucuses. [Section V. 2.]

I have to check the date but a friend of mine's wedding may be the same day as the caucus. I'm really hoping I'm mistaken or that the times won't overlap.

Bump.

Also, I'm trying a new project. I've started the website: www.420kansas.com

I'm trying to make this go a little viral around kansas... I'll have a petition up soon.

By focusing solely on legalizing marijuana in Kansas, I'm hoping to attract more voters that wouldn't have found Ron Paul in the first place.

Please stop by... comment... vote in the poll... etc.

Anything helps.

Post to friends also... I just started this (all 3 articles were written tonight), and there will be a lot of updates soon.

I'm about to pass out for the night... stayed up way too late, so I'll be away for 8-10 hours or so.

I still believe this is the most effective use of Facebook ads...targeting Ron Paul supporters (18-29) in closed states and informing them that they must be registered Republicans.

These ads have the greatest chance to lead to actual votes and we know the people clicking them are most likely unaware that they had to be registered Republican. It's also information that will most likely be shared to others.

Unless your ad is targeting a significantly different audience, your ad will be competing with DrHendricks' ad and will just drive up the cost.

If you want, you can do one for Louisiana. I would suggest making your target audience 18-29 since the older crowd are most likely registered. LA's deadline is a week from today (2/22) and you can get the link to register online here:

Paul should campaign in Kansas.

He could win here. It's a weird state politically. It's Paul vs. Santorum, no doubt.

I'll be there. I changed my registration back in 2008 so I could vote the last time.

It will be tough to beat Santorum here. The same religious crowd that went for Huckabee last time will probably go his way.

Paul did get 11 percent though. I know there is a good crowd in Wichita, Topeka, Lawrence, and Kansas City.... and from what I heard.. Manhattan?

Being agricultural.... KSU should love Ron Paul.

ksuguy
02-15-2012, 12:51 PM
I wouldn't know about Manhattan, haven't lived there since I got out of college in 2002. I'd imagine he would do ok with the college students if you could convince them to register and show up.

I did a bunch of stuff with the local group here in Wichita back in 2008, but I haven't been able to this time. I'll be there to vote though, and I got another guy I know registered a couple weeks ago. He just got his US citizenship a couple years ago, and he's looking forward to voting for Ron in his first presidential election.

Agreed. Santorum will get a lot of the Huckabee vote. Rural Kansas is driven by the ag industry and wind energy continues to grow. Both love their federal subsidies and credits. I think it will be a challenge to get them to support Paul.

And I realized I will not be in Hutch that weekend but in Wichita for a 2-day marriage retreat, so Paul will be down two votes from Reno Co. :( Happy I'll be spending quality time with my wife, but disappointed that I'll miss the caucus.

That's almost as many votes as Ron got last time (2182). Huckabee won with 11627 and there was total of 19,133 votes. It's a start.

I don't know. I do know that our retreat (Hyatt) is next door to the caucus (Century II, I believe). But there won't be any breaks long enough to slip over, listen to speeches, then vote. Maybe I can have a little chat with the retreat organizers on Friday night!

I just don't understand why he isn't advertising here. It would be very cheap to play ads on the Wichita/western Kansas market and the Eastern Kansas population will give him votes regardless.

This is a state he could win with a little advertising. All he would need to do is make small government talking points and visit a handful of western kansas cities.

Well he got 11-12% in 2008 with no campaigning, so you'd have to imagine his support has grown. With a small amount of voters but two major universities with a high level of Paul supporters, you would think it would be a good scenario.

Romney is now running commercials in Kansas.

Just saw the negative Rick Santorum ad on TV here.

I think that's a good thing because this could be a very pro Santorum state.
