Days after announcing that it had dropped its funding of abortion giant Planned Parenthood, the Komen cancer charity has reversed its decision.

It all political BS. The point of Susan B Komen should be to fight breast cancer. I don't believe that they should with-hold funds from Planed Parenthood because PP provides abortions, and I don't think they should not fund Planed Parenthood because they provide abortions. They should fund PP, based on whether or not they provide good breast cancer scans for a decent price.

The problem being donors to the Komen fund that don't want their donations being used to fund abortions. They just won't be able to donate to the Komen fund. The same problem I have with the US funding the abortion providing Israeli government.

Huh, what does planned parenthood have to do with cancer? Doesn't make sense for them to fund an organization that isn't focused on combating cancer.

I'd wager without an ounce of research that they offer cancer screening services.

Yeah that was alluded to in an earlier post, but are they the only group that offers such services? You would think they would choose a organization more dedicated to combating cancer than planned parenthood to fund. Why throw any money there way?

Women who've had an abortion have higher rates of breast cancer. Or so I'm told.
While listening to a talk radio show today a caller pointed out that after Planned Parenthood makes money off an abortion years later Komen will make money off women w breast cancer. One hand feeding the other.

I thought their original reason for defunding was because PP did not provide breast cancer diagnostic services, they just made referrals. If this is the reason they defunded (originally) PP and other organizations, then why would they renege, unless of course they reneged on the defunding of every other organization they had defunded. Finding out would let you know whether it was political pressure (if just PP) or if they had a change of heart and decided that organizations referring to women to c.inics for mammograms, etc. were as important as the clinics themselves.
