We need people in DE to help collect signatures. We are struggling to get the required 500!

I have setup a DE group for grassroots talk that is ONLY for grassroots talk, no videos etc. We need to collaborate and get Dr. Paul on the ballot ASAP!
http://www.facebook.com/groups/296477800400972/296478927067526/?notif_t=group_activity

My mom lives in Sussex and is doing her best to collect signatures alone. There is very little interest there in Dr. Paul right now. We need additional supporters in DE to join in and help out. They are a month away from the deadline! If you are from the state of DE, check out the facebook group and help us figure this out locally!

I just joined the group and our group based out of Easton will work with them to get the job done.

Filing deadline is Feb 24th and finalized on March 2nd. They only just started allow signature collections recently anyway.

I don't think the campaign will have a problem getting 500 signatures in a month.

And even if you don't file, there is still a means to get on the ballot.

Relax fellas. No danger here at all.

Can you post the deadline? there is more of a sense of urgency when you do, especially for the local supporters, online.

Most seniors don't use facebook.

Here's the conservative (mostly) State public forum provided by independant newspapers.

There's a Ron Paul 2012 thread there.

Even non-Ron Paul supporters should have no problem signing it since it's not a vote for Ron, but a fair chance on the ballot. Maybe they'll even become interested eventually.

I think they are still down there "occupying" Dover.

A whole 12 of them may be occupying Dover. I drove to the post office a few weeks ago and that was about how many tents were up downtown on the big open lawn.

Also, Delaware State is predominately a black university with a lot of out of state students. We do have the Air Force Base but not sure how to collect military signatures. A good signature requires you to be a DE resident and registered a Republican. The most Republican part of the state is Sussex County.

we are steadily growing. we are still doing our part to get signatures. so far to date i think we have the internet covered with a grass roots facebook page, a delaware facebook page, a website, a meetup group , and a delaware for Ron Paul website. there might be more but those are the ones i have been in contact with. we are planning for three group meetings one in each county of new castle, kent and sussex on sat feb 11th. if you know anyone who lives in any of those areas please tell them to attend the meetings. look on the facebook page for details.

I'd like to sign the petition to get Ron Paul's name on the Delaware ballot.

Is there an upcoming meeting or public venue where we could show up to sign? Please provide date, time and location. Or is there a contact phone number?

Someone's going to have to add the requested information here somewhere and I'll pass it along to all who would like to sign.
I don't live there except for a few months during the year but am willing to help you get the signatures but can't without info.

Facebook page is dead for a reason. As I mentioned...seniors don't use it and most who vote there are seniors. Many use the platforms above to discuss issues in the state.

Something stinks in Delaware. Does anyone know anything about this Mcvay (http://www.willmcvay.com/)guy? He's been the leader of this occupy Dover shenanigan yet claims to be Libertarian. http://de.newszapforums.com/forum4/110218.html

Also, this. http://www.libertarianrepublican.net/2010/09/kent-county-delaware-libertarian-party.html

No wonder folks are having a tough time. Seems like a conflict of interest from within. Seems like the Delaware 9/12 Patriots are moving in to try to sell Santorum as the alternative to Romney too. Like I said...something stinks about the whole thing.

In fact, I'm beginning to think that the "Libertarian" is putting forth more effort toward the benefit of the establishment GOP more so than what the libertarian title actually demands.

Yep. So it's all the more easier to find folks who should be registered and explain to them the benefit of doing so if that's worth anything.

Unfortunately, most of the Republicans in Delaware are big government Republicans. Definately an uphill battle talking sense into them.
Especially with the shenanigans going on in the libertarian field of play there.

Nah, haven't abandoned it. I don't live there so I have to wait for intel to come down to me from family there. My understanding is they are close/over 500 sigs but are turning in extras. The website does not have it listed yet as having ron on the ballot. I do not check PM's because i never notice the little tiny itty bitty box at the top of the screen. Here's the situation: We have approximately 500 signatures (which is the required number to get him on the ballot in Delaware). However, there are many reasons why the Department of Elections can throw a signature out as not being valid. Some of the reasons include the voter not being registered as Republican at the time if signing, illegible handwriting, information not filled out in full, etc. So, we have much less than the 500 needed.

Next week is the cut-off to get him on the ballot so this weekend is our last opportunity to get the required signatures.

\I'm located in Newark, but the signature drive is being organized to take place in all three counties.

Gregory Scarpa and others: Here is the link to print out the petition. Please note it does need to be printed on legal-sized paper. Also, be sure to double-check that all information is filled out absolutely correctly. Otherwise, the name will not be counted.

This weekend we're doing our final push to get signatures to get Dr. Ron Paul on the ballot in Delaware. We are still short on valid signatures! Please help out if you can on Saturday-- this is our last chance to get him on the ballot! It's this Saturday, February 18th.
Email ncc4rp@gmail.com or call 302-220-9198 for times and locations.

This Saturday is our last chance to get Ron Paul on the primary ballot in Delaware. And this is the last weekend drive possible before the deadline. As I've reported in the past, we've done a great job to this point. And though we have certainly gathered more signatures than ever before, the campaign is only confident on less than 500 of them. We must not let this discourage us. Our team has developed our most developed petition drive system yet just for this weekend. We are calling all volunteers by phone Wednesday evening to have the largest volunteer street team turnout possible. Please reply to this email if you can work one, two, or three door-to-door shifts this weekend.

You will have a block of registered Republican addresses in your area emailed to you. You can also request to be teamed with other willing volunteers in your area and we will make that happen.

Shifts will be from 10am-12pm, 12pm-2pm, and 2pm-4pm

We also need people to act as pick up/drop off stations from 10am-10:30am, 12pm-12:30pm, 2pm-2:30pm, and 4pm-4:30pm at the following locations:

Wilmington: Timothy’s

Newark: Panera

Middletown: Applebee’s

Dover: Halls Family Restaurant
Georgetown: Harvest Diner

We will have 3 designated roaming collectors that will pick up the petitions from the pick up/drop off stations. I will then personally drive the length of the state on Sunday, from New Castle County to Sussex and back, collecting all of the signatures from Saturday.

According to our calculations, if just 60% of our volunteer force answers the call and each volunteer collects just 3 to 5 good signatures each, we will have this effort wrapped up in one day.

Every signature counts. This Saturday is our FINAL STAND. Please give this Saturday to the cause of Liberty, so we can put this goal behind us and know that Ron Paul will be on the Republican primary ballot in Delaware for President of the United States.

I got one person registered, but they have to be registered before they sign...which makes it all the more difficult.

So should there be joint "Register Republican" and "Signature Gather" events? If you can do both at the same time, then that just makes sense. Not sure if you can just do it online like some states, but if need be, file the Republican registration paperwork first, and then you can file the signatures later, which should be good.

Can someone confirm if this makes sense? I think it does.

Here is a fun story from my mom today. She was door knocking on republican voter doors for additional sigs over the 500 (just in case you know...) Mind you houses in DE are spread out on farms just like Iowa, etc. Not much there outside of their little towns.

oh dad and i went out door knocking

except here you have to drive because they are so far apart. well to make a long story short we went on some guys property and he was a raging physico to put it mildly it was the worst thing that ever happened to us.

we locked ourselves in the van til the police got there. which he called and i called as well because the guy was so out of control yelling and screaming and cursing

he wouldn't even give me a chance to tell him what i was doing he kept yelling what gives you the right to come on my property, license and resgistration now. i'm a cop. i want your licesnes and registration now. i mean the guy was so out of control it is a wonder he didn't give himself a heart attack or me for that matter.
he was saying i have signs posted, i swear we saw no signs posted because we were making sure that there weren't any signs posted before we would go to peoples houses.

when we pulled up we only went part way up the drive then i was going to walk the rest of the way up to the door and he came running up the drive way screaming.

anyways he stood behind the van so we couldn't leave, we told him what we were doing and he wouldn't let us leave, so it gets better

he then took a picture of our tag, walked around the front of the van up the drive to his car. like it was a trick to see if we would try and leave. but we didn't move. not dumb. we had already called the cops and so did he.

i called because he was threathening us. anyways he walked up to his car opened the trunk pulled out a shot gun and leaned it up against the car played around going from one door to the other then went over and picket the gun up. i called the police again, about two min later the police showed up. we talked to the police and then he talked to the guy. for some reason when the cop showed up he was all calmed down. it was crazy. it ended up being the cop got him to let us go because all our information was correct. and we were telling the truth. so they let us go

now here the kicker, when we left we looked for his no trasspassing signs. and the only thing we could find was a sticker on the side of his mailbox which was part way covered up with his flag so he did not have ""signs" posted at all. just a sticker.

i swear i am still shaking and my face is still burning. i never seen some one so physico in all my life.

it ws so blown out of porportion it was crazy, and to think the was is supposedly a captain of the police.

yea the police who showed up apoligized to us for his behavior and said not all of us are like that. but you have to see it from his point to..blah blah blah. the guy was an idot. and the next kicker is he had his wife and kids at the end of the drive way waiting to walk up to the house. so who knows what those poor kids saw

anyways we got lots of signatures today well i probably have about 50 to turn in maybe a little bit more

All ended up well. My dad usually open carries a glock 22 but for whatever reason he didn't have it on him. could have ended much worse. They have the guys name and address so I told her to call and complain on him.

Deadline looms for Del. GOP primary

Filings due Friday; Gingrich, Romney, Roemer on state ballot

By Jessica Eisenbrey and Jamie-Leigh Bissett

Delaware State News
DOVER — Candidates seeking a spot on Delaware’s ballot for the Republican presidential primary on April 24 have until Friday to complete the necessary paperwork and collect the 500 signatures needed to officially register with the state Department of Elections.

As of Monday afternoon, state elections commissioner Elaine Manlove said former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich, former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney and former Louisiana governor Charles E. "Buddy" Roemer were the only Republican candidates who have officially filed for the presidential primary in Delaware.

Mr. Roemer qualified as a candidate through different means from Mr. Gingrich and Mr. Romney, as he was the first 2012 presidential candidate eligible to receive federal matching funds. Qualifying for matching funds is the other way candidates can seek placement on the Delaware ballot.

By FEC rules, to become eligible for matching funds, candidates must raise $100,000 by collecting $5,000 in 20 different states in amounts no greater than $250 from any individual. Other requirements to be declared eligible include agreeing to an overall spending limit, abiding by spending limits in each state, using public funds only for legitimate campaign-related expenses, keeping financial records and permitting an extensive campaign audit.

Delawareans are working hard across the state to also secure a spot on the ballot for both Rick Santorum, a former U.S. senator from Pennsylvania, and Texas Congressman Ron Paul.

Will McVay, vice chair of the Delaware Libertarian Party and a volunteer helping to collect signatures for Mr. Paul, said the necessary 500 signatures have been collected, but he and others are working to gather a few extra names.
