Circa 2008

America's occupation causes anger and is not related to the occupiees being Muslim.

I mean the French actually used Terror bombings against New Zealand in 1985, making them state sponsors of terror.

However America has a reputation for being a huge bully and often just outright obnoxious. America in fact has economic sanctions on NEw Zealand because we *don't* have nukes.

However in 2008 the bases in New Zealnd became too much and people have actually started attacking them. White western Christians.

A Catholic priest who attacked the Waihopai spy base in Marlborough in 2008 has told a jury he is not anti-American in outlook.
Father Peter Murnane, Sam Land and Adrian Leason are before Wellington District Court on charges of intentional damage and entering a property with intent to commit a crime.
Father Murnane told the court information gathered through Waihopai is collected by America's National Security Agency, and when he read that the agency was proud to have taken part in the Iraq war, that led him to take action.
He said he was not anti-American, saying he loved the American people but disagreed with some US government policies.
He was also concerned that activities at Waihopai involved New Zealand in American wars.
Father Murnane said he worked with Iraqi refugees in Auckland and that also motivated his attack on Waihopai.

The three men were arrested early this morning, after allegedly using bolt cutters to cut through three security fences and one of two 30-metre domes covering satellite interception dishes was deflated.

They were part of a group called Anzac Ploughshares which aims to spread the message of disarmament by disabling warplanes and military equipment. The group's name comes from a biblical reference to turning swords into ploughshares.

Described as a satellite communications monitoring facility, opponents of the base say it is part of Echelon, the worldwide network of signals interception facilities run by American and British intelligence agencies and contributes to the war in Iraq.

As they were taken from the court into the police van, Land said he was going on a five-day hunger strike, and Leason said he would pray for those in Iraq, where one million people had died, the Marlborough Express reported.

"The war in Iraq takes some explaining," Murnane said.

GCSB deputy director for corporate services Hugh Wolfensohn told the Express the attack had caused more than $1 million damage, but the base was still operating.

"There's been no significant reduction in work. Obviously there's been some (reduction) because we've got an antenna out of action."

He did not know when repairs would take place.

Given that New Zealand is ranked as having more freedoms than America,

Why Are New Zealanders Attacking American Bases?

Moderate protestants would prevail in these infighting games I suspect.
