Bill Hahn | John Birch Society (http://www.jbs.org/)

Remember Sheriff Richard Mack (http://sheriffmack.com/)? Back in the 1990s, as an elected Sheriff of Graham County, Arizona, he took the Clinton administration to the Supreme Court over the Brady Bill. His case was not based on the Second Amendment, but on the Tenth Amendment. Why? His argument was that the federal government could not tell the highest elected official in the county what policy he was going to follow. It was unconstitutional. The outcome? He won.

Sheriff Mack has spent much of his time since then writing and speaking of his experience. He understands the proper role of the sheriff and knows that there are many good sheriffs and chiefs of police out there that could use some help. With this in mind, he has founded the Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association (http://www.cspoa.org/) (http://www.cspoa.org/). Their mission is to educate and equip sheriffs, peace officers, and public officials with the necessary information and public support to carry out their duties in accordance with their Oath of Office.

This new organization has its first annual convention (http://www.cspoa.org/docs/2012-01-31%20CSPOA%20Event.pdf) coming up next week in Las Vegas. Sheriff Joe Arpaio, Larry Pratt, Sheriff Bradley Rogers, Richard Mack and JBS National Director of Field Activities Jim Fitzgerald will give presentations. The convention runs two days: January 30-31. Monday will see a day-long event only for law enforcement, while the Tuesday evening meeting will be a public rally.

If you’re in the Las Vegas area, plan to attend the Tuesday event (http://www.cspoa.org/docs/2012-01-31%20CSPOA%20Event.pdf), "Learn the proper role of the county sheriff... serving the people and protecting their rights," at the Tuscany Hotel and Casino from 6:00 – 10:00 PM. Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door. JBS is one of the sponsors.

Jim Fitzgerald is a former police officer from Newark, New Jersey. He draws from personal experience of how important it is to support your local police and keep them independent. Jim will be showing a special video produced by JBS about the Society’s "Support Your Local Police — And Keep Them Independent! (http://www.jbs.org/issues-pages/support-your-local-police)" campaign as well as special information that exposes the Southern Poverty Law Center (http://thenewamerican.com/usnews/politics/9112-protecting-rights-loyal-americans-targeted-by-the-splc).

Mr. Fitzgerald is available for speaking engagements through the JBS Speakers Bureau. Speaking and travel fees apply. Contact us to book him today.

I've been following this for some time now, and I hope others are also watching this movement because if ever the SHTF, our elected LEO's like the Sheriff will need our help.

I know AZ, and the North West is facing some serious times ahead.

I will post more when oths have had a chance to chime in, I got more info on this stand by the Constitutional Sheriff's facing off with the FED's.
