I remember the 5th everyone thinking of 1812 overture.
We need something uplifting, not main stream but fairly well known.
If this event was a movie and you had to pick one song for the trailer what would it be?

Star spangled banner? My country tis of thee?
Here is a list from wikipedia of patriotic music:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:American_patriotic_songs
This is a great idea though. It can drum up support and given insight into our movement. I think the "Liberty Song" is great. I am sure Ron Paul will like it too. It is also a song nobody knows a lot about but has a place in our history. It will be noble to give this song some attention. Its a bit uplifting too. Check it out here:
http://www.contemplator.com/midimusic/liberty.mid
Plus check out the lyrics!
Come, join hand in hand, brave Americans all,
And rouse your bold hearts at fair Liberty's call;
No tyrannous acts shall suppress your just claim,
Or stain with dishonor America's name.
Chorus:
In Freedom we're born and in Freedom we'll live.
Our purses are ready. Steady, friends, steady;
Not as slaves, but as Freemen our money we'll give.
Our worthy forefathers, let's give them a cheer,
To climates unknown did courageously steer;
Thro' oceans to deserts for Freedom they came,
And dying, bequeath'd us their freedom and fame.
Chorus
The tree their own hands had to Liberty rear'd,
They lived to behold growing strong and revered;
With transport they cried, Now our wishes we gain,
For our children shall gather the fruits of our pain.
Chorus
Then join hand in hand, brave Americans all,
By uniting we stand, by dividing we fall;
In so righteous a cause let us hope to succeed,
For heaven approves of each generous deed.
Chorus
Is this not perfect or what?

You can hear Dickinson College Choir sing it at this link (http://www.dickinson.edu/news/features/2001/libertysong/).
I think the words are perfect, but after hearing it sung, it's a tough one, with a very wide vocal range and lots of bumpy cadences. The Star-Spangled Banner is a tough song to sing too, but we've grown up with it.
Maybe somebody could take these words and set them to a piece of music that's a bit more modern (NOT RAP) and make it more "singable"?
Another option would be to contact Rockie Lynne and ask him to write one. :D
In any event, if we pick an existing song, we can add a verse or two specifically for the tea party and Dr. Paul.

This might be interesting to see what someone can put together with this as a background. I am not talented when it comes to video making.

When Liberty Comes Back Home Again
(To the tune of "When Johnny Comes Marching Home")
When Liberty comes back home again,
Hurrah! Hurrah!
We'll celebrate our victory then,
Hurrah! Hurrah!
When Dr. Paul shuts down the war,
Brings back our troops from foreign shores,
Then we'll all feel proud when the troops come marching home!
When Liberty comes back home again,
Hurrah! Hurrah!
We'll celebrate our victory then,
Hurrah! Hurrah!
When Dr. Paul kills the Income Tax
and gives the Federal Reserve the Ax,
Then we'll all be glad that our money is our own!
When Liberty comes back home again,
Hurrah! Hurrah!
We'll celebrate our victory then,
Hurrah! Hurrah!
When Dr. Paul cancels Real ID
and we've restored our liberty,
Then we'll all feel proud that our country is our own!
When Liberty comes back home again,
Hurrah! Hurrah!
We'll celebrate our victory then,
Hurrah! Hurrah!
When Dr. Paul stops Foreign Aid,
And NAFTA and CAFTA have gone away,
Then we'll all be glad that the Empire is no more!
When Liberty comes back home again,
Hurrah! Hurrah!
We'll celebrate our victory then,
Hurrah! Hurrah!
When all our troops protect our shores,
And SWAT teams no longer bust our doors,
Then we'll all be glad that our country has been reborn!
When Liberty comes back home again,
Hurrah! Hurrah!
We'll celebrate our victory then,
Hurrah! Hurrah!
When you can smoke whatever you want,
Even if you're in a restaurant,
Then we'll all be glad that our freedom's been restored!
LOTS more verses can be written; the last three lines are pretty easy to dream up for any issue you want to address.
The last line for any verse can be "Then we'll all rejoice when Liberty comes back home!"
This makes a great marching song, too, but please, no goose-stepping! :D

Oh We're Not Gonna Take It

oh You're So Condescending
your Gall Is Never Ending
we Don't Want Nothin', Not A Thing From You
your Life Is Trite And Jaded
boring And Confiscated
if That's Your Best, Your Best Won't Do
oh.....................

no Way!
oh.....................
oh.....................
we're Right/yeah
we're Free/yeah
we'll Fight/yeah
you'll See/yeah
we're Not Gonna Take It
no, We Ain't Gonna Take It
we're Not Gonna Take It Anymore
we're Not Gonna Take It, No!
no, We Ain't Gonna Take It
we're Not Gonna Take It Anymore
just You Try And Make Us
we're Not Gonna Take It
come On
no, We Ain't Gonna Take It
you're All Worthless And Weak
we're Not Gonna Take It Anymore
now Drop And Give Me Twenty
we're Not Gonna Take It
oh Crinch Pin
no, We Ain't Gonna Take It
oh You And Your Uniform
we're Not Gonna Take It Anymore

Has anybody ever heard of the band "Fish". My wife's son is very much into this band- they are kind of a mix between folk and funk- like the grateful dead. They have a song called "Boston tea Party". here is a sample:

lol. This is great for promotion videos but for the official teaparty we should use something more dignified. I really like the idea of using a song that has some history and can capture the revolutionary spirit of the colonies.

lol. I like it and I think its another great song for promotion videos. However, for the official song might get media attention and give people some insight into our movement so I think something with some history and patriotism is the best. I do really like your choice though. It sticks in my mind. VERY good for promotion.

I wrote the words for When Liberty Comes Back Home Again as a "Boots on the Ground" protest song. Imagine a few hundred (thousand) marchers carrying Ron Paul signs and banners, marching down the street singing those words!
As a theme song for the movement, how about this one?
For What It's Worth
Buffalo Springfield
There's something happening here
What it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware
I think it's time we stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
There's battle lines being drawn
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong
Young people speaking their minds
Getting so much resistance from behind
I think it's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
What a field-day for the heat
A thousand people in the street
Singing songs and carrying signs
Mostly say, hooray for our side
It's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid
You step out of line, the man come and take you away
We better stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, now, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

Revolution by John Lennon.
You say you want a revolution
Well, you know
We all want to change the world
You tell me that it's evolution
Well, you know
We all want to change the world
But when you talk about destruction
Don't you know that you can count me out?
Don't you know it's gonna be
Alright?
Alright?
Alright?
You say you've got a real solution
Well, you know
We'd all love to see the plan
You ask me for a contribution
Well, you know
We are doing what we can
But if you want money for people with minds that hate
All I can tell is, brother, you'll have to wait
Don't you know it's gonna be
Alright?
Alright?
Alright?
You say you'll change the constitution
Well, you know
We all want to change your head
You tell me it's the institution
Well, you know
You'd better free your mind instead
But if you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao
You ain't gonna make it with anyone anyhow
Don't you know it's gonna be
Alright?
Alright?
Alright?
Alright?
Alright?
Alright?

the more I think about it, the more I think a theme song isn't right... it puts one view on many... let people sing their own songs as they donate.
