You've heard about Lamar Smith and SOPA.

You may not have heard about Bob Goodlatte.

The internet blackout in response to the SOPA/PIPA censorship bill finds it’s roots in central VA’s 6th district. One of the key politicians behind the bill is Bob Goodlatte -who spent much of last year writing the bill (http://www.techdirt.com/blog/?tag=bob+goodlatte)- after which he introduced SOPA to Congress (http://goodlatte.house.gov/press_releases/281) in his subcommittee on Intellectual Property, Competition and Internet as a co-sponsor with Rep. Lamar Smith of TX. He is experiencing blowback from the bill in the form of a strong anti-SOPA challenger in his district’s Republican primary- something that has never happened to him in some 20 years of being in office. Goodlatte is desperately trying to keep his authorship/introduction of SOPA quiet, choosing rather to let Rep Lamar Smith of TX be the SOPA front-man since the security of Smith’s seat makes the negative publicity much more affordable for him than for Goodlatte, whose June 12th primary makes the now politically-toxic bill a serious election liability. One of our own- Karen Kwiatkowski - a Ron Paul Republican and frequent contributor to LewRockwell.com, intends to fire the man behind SOPA and has a serious chance at it with your help. I'm in Karen's district and working with her campaign. Goodlatte is definitely vulnerable which is why he is so desperate to keep the focus of this SOPA uprising off of him. We need your help/ideas to change that! Also we things are really ramping up and the campaign is looking for help- anybody interested in contributing in any way send me a message!

Awesome. I was just asking if anyone is going to challenge Lamar Smith. There are a lot of peeps in his district who are not happy with him right now.

Karen is awesome (http://www.lewrockwell.com/kwiatkowski/kwiatkowski-arch.html).

I'm kind of surprised RPF hasn't given her a forum in Defenders of Liberty (http://www.ronpaulforums.com/forumdisplay.php?286-Defenders-of-Liberty).

She's picking up alot of momentum as people are finding out about Goodlatte's role in SOPA. She's running in the Republican primary, which Goodlatte has never before faced. Alota people despise Goodlatte (especially after SOPA) and it's an open primary. She's got a decent shot at this. Peter Schiff and Tom Woods endorse her as well.

You guys have forgotten that Ron Paul endorsed Lamar Smith, called him a true gentleman and even wanted more members of Congress to adopt his style of governing.

Dear Fellow Texan,

As you know, America faces tremendous problems. I have dedicated my career to fight for solutions, but I need friends in Congress who will help and work with me in these critical times.

That is why I am grateful for the friendship of Congressman Lamar Smith. Lamar Smith is a thoughtful, intelligent leader who keeps his door open to me and is always willing to listen. As the ranking member of the Judiciary Committee, Rep. Smith's word carries a lot of weight on Capitol Hill and I am glad to see he fights to take principled stands on important issues like Healthcare and Cap and Trade.

Congressman Smith made a point of reading both of my recent books, The Revolution: A Manifesto and End the Fed and I enjoyed our discussion. True intellectual exchange has become all too rare in Washington and I appreciated his effort.

Lamar is also one of the true gentlemen in Congress. I value Congressman Smith's thoughtful approach and consider him a true friend. If more leaders in Washington adopted his style of governing, I know we could break down a lot of barriers.

I am proud of my friendship with Lamar Smith. I hope you will consider supporting him in his bid for re-election.

In Liberty,

Ron Paul

You guys have forgotten that Ron Paul endorsed Lamar Smith, ...

Lamar Smith spent that political capital with his support of NDAA and SOPA as far as I'm concerned.
