Nice. Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ron_paul) is blacked out too. They are encouraging people to contact their representatives (beg for their freedoms) though which I find silly.

The campaign needs to put out a hard hitting press release tomorrow to capitalize on this.

This stupid bill will pass. I just know it. Everything I like never passes and every think I hate always passes. Im starting to wonder if I turn around and support this thing maybe it will fail. I don't know.

I'm on the edge of just giving up and going on welfare, putting on my shackles, and buying cable where I will force myself to start loving reality TV and Fox news.

SOPA is kinda dead right now. No scheduled activity coming. PIPA (evil SOPA twin) is about to come for a vote in the Senate, though.

Fighting online piracy is important. The most effective way to shut down pirate websites is through targeted legislation that cuts off their funding. - Google

Ew, pretty disturbing pro-IP stuff calling for more legislation and violence.

And what are the anarchists doing to stop internet regulation?

I think civil disobedience/non-compliance, protests, and spreading the message of liberty will be more effective in the long run than calling politicians who likely don't care (see the 99 to 1 calls they got against the bailouts as an example). I think there are much better uses of your time. I don't like the idea of begging them not to do something like this because it seems to portray that they do have the authority to enact this kind of legislation so long as people will go along with it.

I also don't like seeing Google saying things like this
Fighting online piracy is important. The most effective way to shut down pirate websites is through targeted legislation that cuts off their funding. which grant legitimacy to the idea that "piracy" which should be fought. More calls for legislation that isn't quite so bad will not solve the underlying problem. It is better to strike the root that government should not have any authority in this realm.

Well that's really not true. A lot of these politicians don't really care either way and just want to get reelected.

True. Some could be swayed with enough public outcry every now and then if they fear for their jobs. However, I haven't seen all that much evidence of this in the past. They seem to do whatever they and/or the special interests want without regard to public opinion.

I just hope people don't think they are accomplishing that much by just sending an email to their "representatives." Much more needs to be done by everybody if we want real change. I get the feeling a lot of people think they've done their duty after they've done this one thing. They will take the easy way out instead of doing much more effective things for the cause.

Piracy is an excuse to shut down anyone who talks about subjects they dont like. Although Piracy is a problem, it is not being addressed the way it should be, as competition. However, SOPA is just a cover for being able to shut down sites like RonPaulForums.com because we support a candidate that is a threat to their precious Status Quo.
