NBC is airing a program currently on role od Superpacs in election politics and how Romney is bulldozing opponents using supercash funded superpacs. Gingrich was interviewed also and was asked what does Sindney Sheldon expect from him in return after he gave Gingrich campaign $5 Million donation.
His answer was candid suggesting that it was because he supports Israel and Sidney fears that Israel would not survive.
While I tend to agree with Sidney's assessment (chances of survival of Israel as it exists today have gone down sharply since 9/11), it struck me how drastically different is current political funding of election campaigns in American Presidential races today. Some candidates can get millions from special interest groups/lobbies and others raise money in small donations from large number of grassroots Americans. The system is quite uneven today and there needs to be more awareness about money factor in politics.
