Yea, this is a NATIONAL poll. Really, nothing to see here; but here it is for the diehards.

Romney 40%
Santorum 15%
Gingrich 14%
Paul 13%
Perry 6%
Huntsman 5%

The poll also asked some head-to-head against Obama (Romney vs Obama, Gingrich vs Obama, Santorum vs Obama)
They obviously did NOT ask a straight Paul vs Obama...
Instead they asked the usual 3rd party poll (Romney vs Obama vs Paul).

Again, nothing too interesting here.

It sucks but there is going to be this period in the election where Romney is this high. As the other candidates drop out Ron needs to get their supporters as the only viable anti-Romney. Then Romney and Ron should about equal out. The msm is going to say Romney is running away with it, the race is over etc. But 60% don't support Romney and there are 48 states to go.

I'm baffled about how anyone could support Romney

How is Santorum polling higher than us nationally? That's just scary.

The "Romney has a ceiling of 25%" meme has to have been one of the dumbest of this primary.

Meh, who cares about the fox poll. RCP is saying that were at third place in SC.

Meh, who cares about the fox poll.

Considering that they are holding the debate tonight, I think this poll is fairly important (in that context). They're going to use it to allocate time to the candidates.

The order of their questions actually makes this poll biased garbage. Question 30 asks who you support for the Republican nomination. This should be the first question that talks about any candidate as the nominee, but instead, Question 17 pits "Mitt Romney, the Republican" versus "Ron Paul, as an independent." Then Questions 18-20 pits Santorum, Gingrich, and Romney versus Obama. Then Questions 23-24 pits Romney versus Obama with two vice presidential candidates. (Somehow Santorum does better than Christie.) Then Questions 25-28 ask about Romney, Santorum, Gingrich, Obama, but not Paul. Then they finally ask about the Republican nomination, after dismissing Paul, pushing Santorum and Gingrich slightly, and pumping Romney to high heavens.

I expect Paul to be back at an edge podium with this Fox News poll today putting him in 4th place. Just hope it's next to Santorum and not next to Gingrich.

Yes, we already saw that pattern in the recent debates which centered mostly around Romney.

Romney's the default candidate at this point no surprise he's so high. republicans just want someone to beat obama no matter who it is, romney has the perception he can beat obama, he's well known, rich, etc. ron's doing better though, he'll overtake grinch and frothy after SC and be second nationally
