Advise is a verb and advice is a noun. The other categories are all nouns - "news" and "poll" and "speculation" so advise just looks wrong.

Sorry to be a grammar nazi but it's good to look smart n stuff when people are checking us out.

I was just about to post this.

Was debating in my head under what circumstances Advise could be better.... yeah that was a losing internal monologue.

I advise that advise be changed to advice, but you don't have to follow my advice if you don't like the way I advise.

Yes, please do change ADVISE to ADVICE. All of the other categories are NOUNS, and this should be as well.

Thanks, mods!

I meant for it to be advise, as in, I need an answer. "Please advise." For topics that are grey/not clear cut.

Didn't want it to infer "I have advice for you."

Opinion might be a more appropriate prefix.

here's some options from the thesaurus:

Main Entry: advise  [ad-vahyz] Show IPA
Part of Speech: verb
Definition: offer recommendation
Synonyms: admonish, advocate, caution, charge, commend, counsel, direct, dissuade, encourage, enjoin, exhort, forewarn, give a pointer, give a tip, guide, instruct, kibitz, level with, move, opine, point out, preach, prepare, prescribe, prompt, put bug in ear, put in two cents, recommend, steer, suggest, tout, update, urge, warn
Notes: advise (verb) means 'to offer advice to or counsel'; advice (noun) is an opinion about what could or should be done about a situation or problem
Antonyms: betray, deceive, delude, fool, lie, pretend, trick

Upon further research from the thesaurus, I think we should go with "put bug in ear." lol

please

Yes...

As in please advise. ;)

That's the way I understand Advise as it's used here. Input might have the same meaning.

Perhaps with the language barrier from state to state I'm mistaken...:toady:

EDIT: I was right! :)

Well the way I took it, and the way I see it being used is people giving advice to the community and to the campaign. If you want it to imply "I need an answer" then you should make it "question:"

If you make it "opinion", people are probably going to use it to GIVE opinions rather than ask for opinions.

While you're at it, make "media" a different color so it doesn't fall into the thread title.

You could replace it with the word Guidance.

You could replace it with the word Guidance.

But apparently he wants this category to be for people who want an answer. Most people here will use the prefix "guidance" to GIVE guidance rather than to seek it. I say "Question" takes care of that problem.
