What negative ads? Santorum is losing his marbles.

"Aides to Santorum told ABC News on Sunday that the former Pennsylvania senator is fed up with the negative attacks coming from the campaigns of those two opponents and from their allies."

Allies? Is he referring to the PACs?

I suggest a complete ban on posting new threads until the full South Carolina video is posted.

LOL! Yeah, what a wonderful way to turn focus away from your negatives.
Why is he doing this? It's silly.

I think this or maybe a short version of this is playing in SC:

I expect (some) news articles that will do a quick write-up of Santorum's statement, then embed a video of the "attack" ad.

Not a smart move on Santorum's part.

Does Santorum actually ever campaign on his own (supposed) positives, or does he just spend his time as an attack dog homing in on Paul?

Betrayal, the attack ad specifically going after Rick Santorum.

He will probably try to distort Paul's views and his voting record. Mark my words.

So this will come up in the debate. Ron will be asked about negative ads. He will say that it is his duty to present the facts to the voters. He'll then use it to differentiate himself from Santorum.

Smooth move, Rick.

When you don't have an actual consistent record to run on, only from, you have to attack. Hence, attack RP.
Romney = no record, attack President Obama

I'm hoping he'll talk more about Romney and this ad his Super PAC recently released:

Sounds like he is going to try to spin something for damage control. The ads must be working. Gingrich did the same thing after Iowa, these guys try to make excuses for selling out, yet their records keeps coming back to haunt them.

Santorum has been attacking Ron Paul at every one of his events in S.C. so far.

Santorum is also a weekly (practically) guest on Glenn Beck, and ALWAYS finds a way to bring in Ron's name in a negative light some how.

Expect full coverage of this tomorrow or this week. We need to be vigilant.

Santorum agrees with Paul on the Constitutional duty of Congress to earmark. But he says that now it has become politically unpopular, so he is against it. Seriously. I'm not making this up.

Santorum's job has always been to rip at Ron Paul. Even at 1%, that's what he did. They were forced to surge him when Bachman, Perry, and Cain imploded before their due date. Gingrich is a meglomaniac and gone hog wild, so Santorum is left to do what he was originally supposed to do - attack Ron Paul every chance he gets.

I remember the joy of seeing Rudy Baby drop out while Ron was still hanging in in 2008. I'm not sure if Santorum or the Grinch will be the most enjoyable this time. Probably the Grinch since he messed with Ron in 1996, but Santorum will be a close second.

And some of you new this time around may not get the point, but believe me, it was sweet, sweet justice. :)

I will always remember when The Ghoul dropped out after Florida in 07 after the infamous "reading list" for Rudy from Ron Paul. The Ghoul put it all on Florida and got creamed. It was so beautiful when he dropped out while Ron soldiered on.

Maybe Santorum will take his ball and go home? This seems like a press conference to say "Waah, they're being mean to me, please make the bad man stop MSM". If this guy reacts like this to some negative ads in the primary, if by some incredible fluke he went up against Obama, these ads are going to be child's play. Santorum whining about these ads=unelectable.

Santorum has been lying about Ron, saying he doesn't have a pro life record which is completely bogus. He has said Ron never passed a bill -- I guess getting the Fed Audited doesn't count.

He talks about earmarks, but Ron doesn't talk about earmarks, he talks about voting for unconstitutional spending which Ron never does, and Santorum does.

It was obvious from the outset that his campaign's objective was to target Ron Paul.

Rick has to defend his record and other candidates are entitled to attack it. He can masquerade as a 'real conservative' but he's the one who supported Specter over Toomey, voted to raise the debt limit five times, supported foreign aid, increased spending on the DoE and expanding the role of government in medicine.

He's way too hawkish as well. I really think he enjoys the idea of war. It doesn't compute.

That stupid little smirk he always has on. And they way he dresses like a missionary of some kind. I cant even stand his voice.

Just pisses me off to no end. It was no shocker that Glenn endorsed him. The two are almost identical.

Santorum, like Huntman was, is in this race to keep Dr. Paul from being able to focus on Romney. Santorum was to buffer Romney in Iowa; he did get second place; but Dr. Paul was too close at third. Huntsman was to get second in N.H. He did not. Dr. Paul needs to go after Romney in S.C. during the next six days, including Saturday, and let the remaining little feists yap and nip. Dr. Paul cannot kill the Romney campaign in S.C., but I do believe that he can give it such a wound that it would likely not recover.

AND... Congressman Tim Scott (R-SC) 1st district is there, SCGOP Chairman - Chad Connolly, as well as Governor Bob McDonnell (R-VA), Frank Luntz, etc...

All for a Rick Santorum townhall

I hope he goes ballistic about it. Just gets the ad more coverage.

The best negative ads are those of which the target takes ownership.

The "Daisy" ad, still the best of them all, never once mentioned its target by name. The Johnson campaign hoped Goldwater would go ballistic over it, because by doing so he's saying 'this is about me' and owning it, thereby tacitly admitting that the criticism has merit. And then you get 486-52 or whatever it was.

If Santorum goes nuts about this, it's because it's working.
