according to http://www.fairvote.org the SC primary is open due to :

S.C.Code Ann. §§ 7-11-10
A U.S. District Court judge ruled inGreenville County Republican Party Executive Committee v. South Carolina, that South Carolina's open primary is constitutional.
Open

so why do MULTIPLE reporters on cnn/msnbc etc corraborate "YES - SC IS A CLOSED PRIMARY"

i think they are doing a massive push to make independents and democrats think that its closed.

"The Republican Party’s legal efforts to close its primary elections to those outside its ranks has met resistance both from the state attorney general of its own party and an unlikely coalition of independents who say they want voting influence in the state’s dominant political organization." Yep...
SC is certainly open. Any registered voter can vote.

During a report about Ron exiting the diner in New Hampshire, the reporter stated it was funny that Paul concentrated his time on the youth because only those over 30 could vote in New Hampshire.I didn't imagine it and I'm looking for it on Youtube. An obvious attempt to persuade some younger people not to show.It was a female reporter/news reader.

Seems this was just a lame attempt by the RNC to try and manipulate and have dominion over the voting process by shutting out dems and indies. Personally, i think everyone should be allowed to vote, but maybe put some 'penalties' in play for switching. Like if you are a dem and you want to vote repub, you can switch, but can't go back for a certain amount of time.

This is a big problem. All day today and yesterday CNN and FOX have been saying the same thing, that SC is a closed primary. If SC is truely an open primary he needs to make an announcement to the media. Hopefully today when he has his big event in Florida he will say something or maybe at the first debate. This really needs to be brought up. All you vid makers out there, we need someone who can compile a vid of all the media clips saying that SC is closed and get it to go viral fast.

that voteforronpaul site is even wrong on this, calling it closed. It is pathetic when pro-paul websites can't even get their facts straight because they can't do 5 seconds of research.

That is not good :(. Ugh. This is more open than New Hampshire. ANYBODY can vote in this primary. Republican, Democrat, Independent, Libertarian, etc. This is a huge deal. Especially our permanence with independents. We can't let any possible votes stay home because they think they can't vote.

Thanks for making this an issue. This cannot get unnoticed. I'm sure the other campaigns and the media would be more than happy to say this is a closed primary! +rep for attention

If this is true we should file a lawsuit against the media companies doing this. This is total manipulation for political gain.

thats why im saying the official campaign needs to hear about this, and "insert" the counter msg into the msg in TV ads, at the debate or whatever such as people being interviewed, etc.

The mis-info just it needs to be countered, especially if there's a big effort to suppress the vote with a massive media push by the establishment or by PACs even that want to keep Dr Paul from getting votes.

the dirty tricks will be different in every state. we need to be alert for shennanegins.

I think this will backfire on them. Lets think for a second. Ron Paul supports tend to get there news more from other sources than MSM. Every other candidates people tend to watch the MSM. So the indipendants and democrats(yea right) that vote for the other candidates are the ones taking the full blunt of this attack, not ron paul supporters.

but Ron Paul has like 10x the support from independents, democrats, and libertarians, than the rest combined.... thats a significant hit.

Here is the message I just sent to the SC For Ron Paul meetup list. Feel free to modify and distribute to your own lists:
===
There are multiple reports on www.RonPaulForums.com and elsewhere that media outlets and websites are reporting that South Carolina is a “closed” primary, meaning that only voters who are already registered Republican can vote. THIS IS FALSE, as confirmed by the South Carolina Board Of Elections:

http://www.scvotes.org/files/2012-01-09%20%28PPP%20FAQs%29.pdf

Q. Do I have to be a registered Republican to participate in the Republican Presidential Primary?
A. No, S.C. does not have registration by party. The Presidential Primary is open to all registered S.C. voters.

It is absolutely essential that all Ron Paul supporters call every radio talk show and email every newspaper and radio & TV station, to spread this information.

Also, call your local county GOP office and ask whether Independents and Democrats are eligible to vote in the GOP Primary. If they tell you they are not, inform them that they are wrong, ask to speak to the County Chairman, and report them to the media.

South Carolina isn't SAME DAY REGISTRATION. New Hampshire has SAME DAY REGISTRATION.

South Carolina = All Registered Voters
New Hampshire = Everyone but Registered Democrats

no offense, but if the media is distorting the facts, what makes you think they will report the facts when pointed out to them?

I like the twitter bomb idea during the debate, e-mailing meetups (like you have, though without the 'report them to media' line), facbook walls, etc.

The MSM will fit tooth and nail against RP. Good for us that they are increasingly becoming irrelevant! Interwebs FTW

If the reporters are mistaken, then it means they have done a poor job of fact-checking and it is not propaganda. RP supporters stating that everything is propaganda is partially why we get labeled conspiracy theorists.

How many reporters have actually gotten it right? If you are a "reporter" and getting this mundane, trivial piece wrong.. then what? You keep writing this off as the ineptitude of those reporting? If both CNN/Faux are parroting this, to me - that is an agenda.

So, someone within CNN and Fox has instructed their reporters to state that the SC primary is closed in order to deter independents and democrats from voting for Ron Paul? OK.
