A meme is "an idea, behavior or style that spreads from person to person within a culture. A meme acts as a unit for carrying cultural ideas, symbols or practices, which can be transmitted from one mind to another..." In my own words: A meme is a slogan with the potential to infect and reproduce from person to person without heirarchical involvement once created. Memes tend to have a particular host environment, so different memes need to be created for different social groups. Other words which are somewhat synonymous with or lend meaning to the word meme: sutra and aphormism. A sutra being a hindu word which means a short thread of words which sew together a larger fabric of ideas. An aphormism is a consise statement of subjective truth.

For more information on memes see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meme On the wiki page, you might want to read through "Aaron Lynch described seven general patterns of meme transmission".

A perfect example of a meme currently being used by Ron is his reasoning behind why young voters are following him:

"young ideas for young people"
Its catchy. It self replicates. It adapts.

Ron already has a strong footing in the "young" category of voters and this meme will only further entrench this footing. There are many other voting blocks, prominent and fringe, which would benefit from the development of better memes/slogans to gather support.

Here is a list of potential voting blocks that I feel need better meme development:

Lower Income
"sound dollar increases buying power"
Pro Marijuana
Pro Muslim - Anti Zionist
Pro Judaism - Anti Zionist
Democrats disappointed in Obama
Personal Liberty Patriots
Those with Internet but No TV at home
Conspiracy Theorists
NRA
Anti War / Military Industrial
Veterans / Active Military
Sound Money / Audit Fed / End IRS
Blacks with non-violent drug charges
Pro Internet Pornography http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2012/01/10/401517/three-leading-gop-nominees-porn/?mobile=nc
Gays
soccer moms
Annonymous
Tea Party
Occupy / 99%
Disabled
Disaffected Neocons
Anarchists

Stage two in effective meme development is SPAWNING. It is my suggestion that we use this thread to both develop memes and to suggest specific web forums into which to insert our creations.

For example. We take a Ron created meme:

"Ron Paul: There May Even be an Anarchist Here or Two" (taken from: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmrlokqWSBU&feature=related)

We can create a new user name at a forum like: http://forums.anarchy-online.com/

Use the meme as our signature line... and begin posting on top rated threads in a civilized manner... perhaps not even mentioning Ron.

The meme develops a new spawning point in an appropriate host population, simply tagging along with popular thread material. Perhaps we use the signature to provide a link.

Remember, the liberty message is not endorsing other peoples choices, it is supporting their right to choose. Feel free to suggest other under-memed voting blocks!

thanks for you help,

A meme I have been attempting to word relates to the 99% movement, the media, and google analytics. Check this link:

http://www.google.com/insights/search/#q=rick%20santorum%2Cmitt%20romney%2Cron%20paul%2C newt%20gingrich%2Crepublican&date=today%201-m&cmpt=q

"The 1% media pushes Mitt Romney; the 99% search google for Ron Paul"

...with a hot link to google analytics.

Herman Cain said of waterboarding, “I don’t see it as torture. I see it as an enhanced interrogation technique.”

Bachmann said to applause: “If I were president, I would be willing to use waterboarding.”

“Torture is illegal … waterboarding is torture,” Dr. Paul responded. “It’s illegal under international law and under our law. It’s also immoral and it’s also very impractical. There’s no evidence that you really get reliable evidence.

“I think it’s uncivilized. It would have no practical advantages and is really un-American to accept on principle that we will torture people we will capture.”

BEGALA: "We -- our country executed Japanese soldiers who water- boarded American POWs. We executed them for the same crime that we are now committing ourselves. How do you defend that?"

Waterboarding is an older issue, but a peace meme for the paul compaign lies here for sure.

suggested memes:

Japanese soldiers were executed for waterboarding our POW's.
Waterboard a terrorist and our enemies will waterboard our troops.

Huntsman stands with Paul
Romney has flip flopped on the issue
Newt is supportive under presidential order
Santorum, Bachmann, Cain... Pro Torture

"On the most controversial topic of the night, the use of waterboarding and other forms of "enhanced interrogation," only Paul and Huntsman came out definitively against their use and stated categorically that waterboarding is torture."
