I have no idea who this dude is nor have I ever seen the show, but he has 109,000 followers on twitter, so he must be pretty famous.

#RonPaul for president if you dont know about him use google and watch him on YouTube.

https://twitter.com/#!/chumlee_/status/157188999864266753

Is this a good endorsement? Someone fill me in.

EDIT: Corey Harrison from the show is also a big supporter:

I hate to get political but I'm ecstatic @repronpaul is running for president

He does have appeal, but its more the class clown type, and it will almost certainly fail to significantly reach a new demographic from those in which we already dominate.

As a side note I love the show and it is (one of) History Channels biggest programs. It would be more significant if he wore RP paraphernalia on the program.

If my memory serves me, this is one of the highest ranked shows on cable. It's a pretty good show and old people eat it up, but Chum probably isn't their favorite; although, maybe this will prompt a google search from some of the unfamiliar viewers! I'll take what I can get.

One more dude that will help get votes from people who otherwise probably wouldn't vote.. The fact that he lives in Vegas is a big bonus.. We need to do well in NV.

Also, I'm sure someone has already mentioned it but we got some love from Arian Foster who is a huge football name in a huge football state.

Pawn Stars is -extremely- popular. It is, or was, the number one cable tv show.

Likable family - grandfather, son, grandson run a famous pawn shop in Vegas. Chumlee is the grandson's best friend and works at the store - he's comic relief, but knows his stuff about random things (video games, sneakers, etc).

He's portrayed as a goof off idiot, but it's still good. Very likeable guy.

I've often thought the family would really dig him too.

Pawn Stars is the number one Cable show in the US, next to sports shows. Would love to see him wear a shirt on an episode, that would reach roughly 6 million people. Even though Chumlee is basically a goof ball, the owner's son is extremely intelligent and who knows Chumlee may have gotten the idea from him! Don't know how it happened either way exposure is exposure! When I go to Vegas again, I definitely will be stopping in the store, from the episodes I've seen it looks like they have some really neat things.

The characters in Pawn Stars essentially seem to keep it real.

The people in American Pickers are kinda fakey though. Danielle Colby Cushman, a tattooed burlesque dancer, was brought into the show in order to add an "edge" to the other two who are kind of average dudes. The show pretends like she runs the shop, but she is actually just an actress. Mike Wolfe has an annoying laugh as well.

I really doubt Chumlee is as dumb in real life as he is portrayed and acts on the show. To some degree he's playing a character, in my opinion. And no, I didn't just now come to this conclusion after seeing his endorsement. He has posted on the 2+2 Forums (largest poker forum on the internet) in the past. I can't remember for the life of me why he showed up there, though.

I agree an endorsement from Rick would be great. He comes off as a very intelligent guy.

Idea: Someone should bring some sort of Ron Paul memorabilia to their shop and try to get on the show with it!

Chumlee plays an fat idiot on T.V. But let me be clear, this man is actually a comedic genius. If you want to see the real person you can go to Gold & Silver Pawn Shops youtube channel and watch some of the videos he made before the show "Pawn Stars". The fact that he endorses Ron Paul just further solidifies the fact that he is really a smart guy.

This is great - this show has a HUGE "older crowd" following.
Grassroots should TWEET to these guys to get them Ron Paul stuff on the show...
I can guarantee you, it will be worth it..

Someone pull the cross-tabs on the viewership of this show and how much it re-runs.

I can tell you this much - the "old man" and Rick (the owner) are probably both Paul supports, too.
Complete inference but anytime Gold comes up during the show, they have a hay day making points about inflation and what have you.

Yes this is great. It is the number one show on history, and it was an endorsement not only from the guy who plays the buffoon on the show, but also Corey which makes it all the better. If Rick and the Old Man were to do the same it would be awesome. This show is huge and has a big following.

Nope, somebody should take in something like a Ron-Paul signed copy of something fairly rare -- maybe a copy of the LLepard ad, or that big photomontage of RP made from images of his supporters. Framed under glass. That would be a real piece of memorabilia worth discussing. Or maybe something he signed during his 1988 run.

Okay, Vegas gang -- Make it SO!

I'm pretty sure "Rick" (main dude, Corey's dad) is NOT a Paul supporter. I've heard him say things that don't jive with a mises/revisionist version of history. It's cool though.... glad to see Corey and Chum support Ron.

actually, at the risk of sounding rude, Chumlee is exactly the type of person we need to attract more of...he comes off as someone incapable of thinking on his own and isn't the typical type of person Ron seems to draw. If we can get a Chumlee type to support Ron Paul, then his 'ceiling' continues to rise.

If this story is true, then obviously Chums, is more of a 'thinker' than we realized. Ron Paul people are philosophical. There is no getting around that. Anyone who attempts to promote his ideas is not a follower, in my flea-bitten opinion.

Jeez, I hope I never become famous, because then when I announce my support for RP I'll get trashed by people who don't like me and those who do. For those who think that Chumlee acts anything like he does on that show has never even watched the show. It is so horribly scripted that it is laughable but its still nice to watch for the background stories on a lot of the stuff they buy (although I really hate Rick giving people so much less money than the item is actually worth). I've heard Rick (the owner and Corey's dad) talk about investing in Gold and Silver before and why people enjoy having Gold instead of cash (old guy asked for gold instead of money when he sold his stuff). Also, after a little digging I found that Chumlee follows a girl whose name has something to do with a certain illegal substance, so maybe he supports Ron because of his views on the Drug War and sound money. I don't know that's just my half-assed research.

You assume they are not already registered republicans.

It is Nevada, they own a business, and they are hard money people... Do you think they are registered Democrats?

People are describing him as a lazy 20 something. I'm assuming he's not registered at all.

Also, you'll be surprised how many people do not know that their own state requires you to be a registered Republican to vote. He may be a registered Republican but if he knows that you MUST be one in order to vote, he can help spread the word too.

They are a prolific show. I have watched at least sixty of the Pawn Stars,

as well as the first two shows of the Cajun Pawn Stars... Quite the difference!!

Unfortunately, Chumlee is known as the village idiot savant.

We should recruit his brilliant dad Rick Harrison, costar and owner of the las vegas pawn shop

They are all about hard money aka gold and silver.
