View Full Version : Peer2Paul is back online after a DoS attack forced a hosting switch.

Hello everyone,

I've been on the receiving end of the Ron Paul Revolution recently when the site I created (Peer2Paul (http://Peer2Paul.com)) was kicked off of the hosting service I was using. Apparently, the site had suffered a DoS attack, and my shared hosting provider, Fatcow, was not happy about that.

Ron Paul fans found me to ask (and try to help) about the sites disappearance. This actually meant a lot to me, because it shows that my site was actually helping to spread Ron Paul's message. The amazing thing is that I received e-mails from supporters in 3 different e-mail accounts of mine. People really did a lot of searching to try and contact me. It makes me very happy to see how passionate Ron Paul supporters are.

Please spread the word that Peer2Paul (http://Peer2Paul.com) is back up and running. If you have yet to try it out, take a second and give it a look. It is a simple aggretor site for all things Ron Paul, but the main focus is on forums online (reddit, Ron Paul Forums, Daily Paul).

I may end up putting an ad box at the bottom of the site to try and help cover the new hosting cost, but I have yet to do that, as of now the site is still completely ad free.

Sorry for the downtime, but hopefully there are no more problems from here on out.

tldr; Peer2Paul (http://Peer2Paul.com) is back up thanks to the Ron Paul community.

Just a bump for the morning crew.

It's been down for a couple weeks (until yesterday) so I want to make sure that people are aware it is back.

I am glad you like it. If you have any issues with the site feel free to post them here (or e-mail me at the address found at the bottom of the site). I think it has some problems in IE (Won't show website titles for some reason), but works fine on every other browser.

That's an odd problem to have. What browser are you using?

Yea, a pretty good all-in-one location.

Yea, I use it as my startup page and have heard of others do the same. Thanks

I created the site because I found myself spending too much time following Ron Paul. This site allowed me to follow him at the same level, but use at least a little less time while doing it.

I figured it out. The "Disconnect" extension was blocking something the site needed to display those two.

What are you using to prevent further DDOS? I suggest Cloudflare, they are top-notch.

Currently, I simply took advantage of a Hostgator free 1 month plan. I had about 3 places recommended to me, and 2 of them had free trial periods, so I chose from those.

I've been asking around for recommendations, so I will look into Cloudflare at the first sign of any problems.
