NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- TheStreet's readers, when given the option between Mitt Romney or Barack Obama, overwhelmingly opted for write-in candidate Ron Paul as their 2012 choice for president.
The Texas Congressman has ridden an influx of dedicated support to a third-place finish in the Iowa caucuses and a second-place finish in the New Hampshire primary. Paul is now hoping to nab a surprise victory in South Carolina on Jan. 21 to slow front-runner Mitt Romney's momentum.
Though Romney is the odds-on favorite to win the Republican nomination, many readers commented that they'd prefer Paul, which echoed a recent story that showed him with a slight lead against Romney among Twitter users.
