Just to dispel any thoughts of these polls for primaries having any grounding in fact whatsoever:

None of the polls before the primary showed Kerry winning. Not one. They all showed him third, fourth, fifth, and never close to being first.

Lieberman had some big numbers for a while.

Also, let's not forget that the eventual VP nominee and primary Kerry rival was Edwards, who finished fourth in New Hampshire (granted, he was second in Iowa).

democratic primaries have been unpredictable, at best. Edwards in these polls was at 3%, but he managed to get 2nd place in Iowa.

I think it relates specifically to how they gather the data. The way they do it for Republicans has traditionally been more accurate because their method would give a greater emphasis to the people who vote in Republican Primaries, middle-aged to elderly people who like talking about politics.

I think that's the issue. It obviously shows their opinion polls are horridly flawed.
