View Full Version : Focus on South Carolina or Nevada next?

Simple poll question: Should the campaign place its emphasis on South Carolina or Nevada next?

EDIT: Sorry, I'm tired and read Politico's map wrong. Nevada is on February 4th. The Democratic caucus in Nevada is on Jan. 21. So they do not vote on the same day.

My apologies. But the poll is still (somewhat) valid.

SC has a lot stronger libertarian streak than a lot of people seem to think

Giuliani was there on 911

South Carolina is getting all the media coverage. It would be great to do well there.

That's true, but it's also full of hawks.

But if Ron Paul leads is SC and not in Nevada, the media will shift its coverage to the latter.

We can't let the other candidates get another chance. We must fight on and not give up on anything. Sending the message that we should skip states only kills the people on the ground. People are forgetting that Romney won Nevada in 2008. We need to take the fight to him and the other candidates.

Nevada seems like it would have more of a libertarian streak because of Vegas, but aren't they also heavily Mormon?

S Carolina is heavily Christian but more anti-Romney.

Depending on the media coverage, if they start declaring it a two man race (like they SHOULD) it will be a good shot for Ron to take S Carolina.

We need to place top 3 in SC. Nevada hopefully we can win, even with the huge Mormon population.

TV ads for South Carolina, phone from home for Nevada? Anyway, I'm sure the campaign will devote substantial effort to both. We do have $millions and an army of volunteers, you know. We can walk and chew bubble gum at the same time!

The campaign needs to focus on South Carolina first, then move ALL resources to the early caucus states: Nevada, Colorado, Minnesota, Maine, Washington, Alaska! Those all have more delegates than Iowa! We need to win those!

We have more momentum and power now and should ride on it to help boost him in SC. It would be great to just get at least 3rd in SC and FL to keep him in the top tier until Nevada.

Paul needs top 3 in SC. If he hits Santorum and Gingrich hard then he could get a second. The SC focus group had some good favorable perception towards him during New Hampshire speech on CNN. We can do better in SC than many think we can.

Many will also start to look for the strong alternative to Romney, well, Paul is the only one that has a chance.

There should be a nice sized piece of pie available in SC so why not help ourselves to some.

Yes, we definetly need a 3rd finish. Honestly taking 4th place hits back to back has got to hurt Newt. He may come in 5th. Surely we can jump over him. Newt 23% and Santorum has 18% and we have 8%. I think it is possible that we could get a little bump and Newt could come down. Although, I do think it might be important for someone to beat Romney. We dont' need people giving up too early and just expecting Romney to win.

Also, don't forget that, except for the recent PPP polls, Newt has continually fallen in SC. I think that he could very easily drop a lot in the next week and a half.

Gotta see what kind of bump we get after today. If it gets us close, pour on some cash to put us over the top and buy some ronmentum.

I live in SC and voted for Nevada. We'll probably pull 15% in SC this time, much better than the 4% last time, but its a winner take all state and not worth significant investment by the official campaign. The grassroots are active here tho, we're bannering and sign making (can't seem to locate any official signs in the upstate), and we'll bust out balls to get out the vote. I just don't want to see the campaign throw away a couple million on a lost cause here, delegate wise.

To be the anti Romney you must not let someone else get that title in South Carolina.
