He also said Ron Paul signals the rise of a "Bob Taft wing" of the Republican Party.

McCain was actually kind of pumping Ron Paul up during the interview. He stated his disagreements, but he wasn't disrespectful and kind of gave Paul a lot of credit.

He said Paul's second is the story of the night.

Sooner you realize Paul isn't going to win the nomination the better.

It's better to think about stronger than expected showings like tonight and feel better about '16 with Rand.

McCain has referred to Ron Paul as "the most honest man in Congress" before.

Fox. And Brit Hume is now saying Ron Paul has the same chance as Ru Paul of being elected.

Since McCain in the past called Ron Paul the most honest man in the congress it's not surprising that he's not disrespectful

And how exactly is someone a "troll" simply for giving their objective opinion? The guy didn't say that he didn't want Ron Paul to win. He just gave his objective analysis.

So if you think that Romney is going to win the nomination you're a "troll?" In all honesty, I want Ron to do as well as possible in these states, rack up as many delegates as possible, and have a huge influence in the nomination process and in the Republican Party. I've donated money to Ron and made calls for him in Iowa. But, I guess I'm a "troll" is well, because I don't have my blinders on and realize that Romney is ultimately going to win the nomination.

you might be right@ traditional conservative. but this is not the time and place for that objective unasked for opinon to be articulated.
there will be a time when your opinion will sound more objective.right now,it would be just tasteless. objective opinions are not needed unless you want ron paul to suspend his campaign because the inevitable is written in stone and you got a direct phone from god about it.

While I do think McCain has an earnest respect for Paul, you gotta keep in mind that right now, it would be ridiculous for him to marginalize him seeing as he's about to turn into the anti-Romney and Ron likely will win a couple of states against him. And let's not forget that Romney needs our support to beat Obama.. which he won't get, obviously.

Oh and if you don't like posts, don't reply to them. You know, I didn't even read the guy's post when he posted it. But what I did see, though, are the countless of posts quoting him. If you don't like a post, report it or neg-rep it and leave it up to the mods. The thread has now turned into a discussion about his negativity.

Whatever.

Ron didn't suspend his campaign in 2008 even though McCain had the nomination wrapped up. He stayed in the nomination through the convention in order to get as many delegates as possible and try to have an influence within the GOP. I think Ron succeeded at that and is succeeding this time as well, so I don't think it would make any sense for him to ever drop out of the race, even if he doesn't perform well in South Carolina and Florida. It's important for Ron to influence the GOP platform and perhaps move Romney closer to his positions on the issues.

Unless Romney does a 180 on his positions and takes up Ron's platform, I'll likely write in Ron's name on the ballot or vote for the Constitution Party candidate. I don't like Romney at all, but I'm realistic enough to know that the person who wins Iowa and New Hampshire has always gone on to win the nomination.

I am not really interested in winning a few delegates and influencing neo cons. I want the American public to finally realize the media is not their friend, start a Ron Paul frenzy, and win the election in a landslide. Then the real work can begin. To hell with all this half ass bs.
