Hypothetically: Obama gets re-elected. What do you think the field will be?

I'm thinking something like: Jeb Bush, Christie, Palin, Rand, Huntsman, Jindal

Jindal is not a natural born citizen....his parents were not US citizens at his birth.

In 2016 elections will be handled by DHS. Rand Paul supporters will be sent off to Guantanamo Bay without charges or access to legal counsel.

Bobby Jindal is eligible, and he might be Romney's running mate. I thought his parents were citizens, but even if not, he was born on U.S. soil.

Sorry, I must change the hypothetical.

Ron wins. I don't see him pursing a second term. His VP, John Mackey has, in those 4 years, endeared himself in the hearts of many. He easily wins election and re-election. Then, Senate Majority Leader Rand Paul runs and wins the White House in 2024 and again in 2028.

What if Someone other than Paul wins the nomination and then wins the presidency..... would anyone get behind a civil libertarian type like Dennis Kucinnich?

No. Although I love the idea of John Mackey as VP!

And after that, people realize liberty works and that they don't need a government. The state loses all importance and withers into obscurity. Nobody runs for president in 2032, and the revolution is complete. A man can dream :D

Hillary will almost surely be the Dem, regardless if Obama wins or not

the Rep field will also be open, with the VP candidate (or sitting VP) as the front runner. Ron or Newt would not run for a 2nd term; even Romney might not.

and the only way Romney could win would be with Rand on the ticket.

Ron Paul wins so 2016 is about re-election. He wins in a landslide. Then VP Romney tries to take over the mantle for the Paul Revolution for 2020, but Rand calls him out on this BS and Rand wins.

Rubio. I suspect he will be given a key speaking spot at this year's Republican Convention.

I doubt it. I'm not saying it should be this way ... but she looks too worn out to be elected. Being Secretary of State has really taken a toll on her. A guy can get away with running at a higher age more so than a woman.

One need be at least 35 to be elected President. I'd watch out for Chelsea ... she'll be 36.

Jindal is not a natural born citizen....his parents were not US citizens at his birth.

So then Bobby Jindal was born in Hawaii, right?

Rand will also be up for re-election to the Senate, so realistically, he probably should stay away from a Republican field that could be in the high teens (15-19) in terms of its high-profile participants. Eye doctor in 2020, please.

You mean Ron Paul wins, eats some "bad food", and VP, now President Romney is running for re-election while the liberty movement is being waterboarded by the U.S. military.

Does Kentucky allow you to run for Senate and President in the same year?

Doesn't matter. He was born in the USA.

I think these people will run: Rand, Christie, Huntsman, Thune, Paul Ryan, Jeb, Rubio, Daniels

I don't think Christie will be physically able to run for president in 2016.

Rand vs Hillary 2016

Rand vs. the CFR Ice Queen. I really think an Obama 2nd term increases Rand's election chances by 33%.

If Rand is running against a Clinton, it'll be Chelsea.

Looks about right.

Also consider, Jim DeMint and Tom Coburn will be at the end of their terms in 2016 and they are not seeking reelection.

My guess would be Mad Max.

I don't know anything about politics though.
