I was RON PAUL when RON PAUL wasn't cool.
I need that on a teeshirt for the next time I go to a meetup. School all the young kids. :D (I'm 59)

At 59 you can say "I was Goldwater when Ron Paul wasn't cool"

How about the 431,750 of us who voted for him in 1988! :D:toady:

Sometimes I let my ego get puffed up a bit when I think of how unhesitatingly I jumped to embrace the RP movement in mid-'07 back when the media still pretended he didn't exist (not that they've changed much), but then my ego shrinks yet again when I remember that there are people who were supporting him all the way back in the '70s and '80s. Those are the guys who really laid the groundwork. Us "seveners" are really wet behind the ears, relatively speaking. :D

I've been aware of Ron Paul since 1981, shortly after I had voted for Ed Clarke for President.

I wonder how many of the people who voted for back in 88 are still relevant, or if actually still support him. Interesting.

Maybe us old fogies need a thread to beat up on all the youngn's that rag on the old folks and point out that we've been fighting for freedom since before they were a gleam in their daddy's eye. :D

Yes you are. You have no street cred unless you were torn between the choices of Andre Marrou & Howard Phillips. LOL

There's a huge component of long-term supporters. Most anybody in the libertarian movement that's old enough to have voted in 1988 probably pulled that lever. You can figure anybody who's over 40 and has been "awake" the whole time pulled that lever. Take a walk around the freedom movement websites and make note of how many of their writers are over 40. That will give you a peek at a few of them. It's worthwhile to remember that Judge Nap is among those in that "old folks" group that "doesn't understand Ron Paul and are only concerned about their Social Security Checks." :D

I think that's why some of us get so bent out of shape when "old folks" get attacked here. Some of us got our heads cracked open in the 60s and 70s, and as a result you youngn's don't have to worry about being drafted and sent to Afghanistan or Iran. Four of our contemporaries are commemorated at Kent State, remember.

I could care less when any of you became Ron Paul supporters, as long as you are one now. Being a supporter NOW is what matters the most!

I think that would have counted as a campaign donation. Better go back and refile your 1992 return.

I was a Ron Paul supporter starting in 2000. I knew who he was back in 1990 when reading the World Almanac 1988 Presidential Election Results but didn't know what he stood for as I was only 10 years old at the time.

TPTB here finally upgraded my account to allow me to post. :D

I am a card-carrying Libertarian for 30+ years and I served on my state LP Board for 4 years.

I try to stay out of Republican Party affairs. :)

I am one of the leading Ron Paul backers over at the Gold is Money forums, trying to secure the votes of the Hard Money Crowd. IMHO It's going very well. Check it out.

I've been a supporter since 2007. Honestly I'm reluctant to sign up for things like forums, although I visit here all the time without signing in. I don't have a Facebook, twitter or any other type of social media account. There is a world out there beyond the internet believe it or not : ).

I wrote a hand written letter to Dr. Paul in 2005 making a desperate plea begging him to run for President again. I have often entertained the idea that it was that letter that made him run. Probably not, but I can dream. :-/

Well, I would argue that we're having as much success as we are now because some of us grizzled heads have kept track of how far down the garden path we've gone, have developed some pretty damned good arguments about why Ron Paul is right, and are here spoon feeding you youngsters with all this happy stuff.

That said, yes. You're right. This is the year, and the time has come to make it work!

I found Ron Paul sometime around 2002/2003. I was a big time Republican and was so excited that Bush had both chambers of Congress and could FINALLY reduce government. We all know how THAT went...

That's how I found Ron Paul. I wanted to find someone who actually STOOD for Republican principles that the class of '94 had rode into success!

I voted for Badnarik in 2004 and Barr in 2008.

I found this forum after or during the Nov 5 Moneybomb. I'll never forget the feeling "Holy crap! I'm not ALONE!!!"
