I don't get it, why do they make it so complicated? Why not just have a primary for all Republican votes everywhere?

Complicated is better for us. Just look at the national polls. National primary = we lose. Long-term, we need to convince more and more states to go to caucus and convention systems.

What does CD in the table stand for?
harikaried
01-09-2012, 02:06 PM
CD = congressional district
So that means, WTA/CD is the person who has the most popular vote in that district gets all the delegates of that district.
Fyi, there's also more than 50 "primaries" when you include territories, etc.
The two largest delegate states are states that ron should do real well in, texas and california

didn't used to be that complicated as far as my research tells me. I went back looking and as recent as I believe 1964, delegates all went to the conventions unpledged.
It's crazy, but think about it. The rules are made to benefit those in power and keep them in power. Left unchecked, you get what we have here. How long have American's been apatheic towards politics?
Maybe see when the first T.V.s started saturating homes. Pretty good indicator IMO.

Television struggled to become a national mass media in the 1950s, and became a cultural force – for better or worse – in the 60s.

Congressional District. The term is used loosely. Wyoming, for example, is kind of like "CD" caucuses, but the divisions are actually counties not congressional districts (the whole state is just one district, after all). I think they just used it whenever the state is split up geographically with the winner of each geographical division getting a delegate, rather than the whole state being lumped into one.

I filtered it down to make it easily sortable.
