All of these older people are voting Romney because they believe he is the best to beat Obama, and they want Obama out at all costs

We need to change this

How do we change this perception?

Dont worry.

Their perception will take a killer blow when he loses to Obama by 10-12 points. ;)

I've mentioned Romney's second amendment stances in regards to Obama and I've had a few people pause as it really hit a cord with them.

I think with Romeny's flip flops and such we can find the "core issue" with people and show them Paul's stance and slowly win them over.

The only things I can think of are as follows:

1. Young relatives need to be active in convincing the older generation that Ron Paul is more than capable of beating Obama.
2. Run ads, and lots of 'em, highlighting Ron Paul's electability.

Since Obama and Romney are so similar on the issues, their prospective campaign will not be about issues. It would be two billion dollar campaign teams beating up each other over negative, personal flaws and rumors.

RP and Obama (or anyone else in politics today) are so different on the issues, that a very issue-oriented campaign can take place. Of course it would be negative from one side if they are ashamed about their positions on issues, but I think that would be hard to win.

I actually think Obama would win the Romney-Obama contest because Obama has a charisma advantage. That's the only difference I see.

I am assuming that they won't go for Paul. :(

For the majority of republicans its about beating Obama and not about electing a good POTUS. The sheeple follow well the leader of the herd yes?

This could effectively be addressed by the idea floated in another thread to produce and air a prime time 30 minute infomercial.

One thing that might work is telling them that Obama and Mitt are both backed by Wall St. billionaires, which is what the Tea Party was formed to oppose in the first place. They are both big government big spenders, who will bail out billionaires at the drop of a hat. There were some charts and articles in other threads about it.

Big missing piece of their logic -- Romney does not appeal to conservatives at all.

Romney vs. Obama == McCain vs. Obama redux

No way conservatives will vote for Romney, so effectively Romney and Obama are vying for the same votes, ensuring another 4 for Obama. Besides, Romney=Obama-lite anyways, two sides of the same coin.

Paul gets conservatives plus all the anti-Obama Republicans, independents, & blue Republicans. Only diehard socialists and big gov't warmongers will stick with Obama.

I simply point out that Obama v. Romney will be about the top marginal tax rate, and Obama v. Paul will be about empire, the budget, and personal freedom.

Works pretty good.

Yeah we have to show them the polls. In FACT Ron polls second best against Obama of anyone but Romney and sometimes beats Romney. That should at least make him the 'anti-Romney.'

This was a letter to the editor I sent to my newspaper. It had to be 250 words mine was 249. They choose the title and went with Paul vs Obama. IF you want to use this in your own newspaper just make some changes.

A recent NBC-Marist Survey shows that Ron Paul polls strongest against Obama, tied with 42 percent and the others losing. Romney has had polls where he edges Obama but Ron Paul is conveniently not included in most of them except the Harris poll where Ron Paul also beats Obama.

Ron Paul does the best of the GOP with young voters, independents, and minority voters while maintaining the conservative base. He is the conservative that can win and not the big government loving flip flopper.
Ron Paul also does best in swing states such as Iowa where he ties Obama and others are beaten. In Florida Paul draws Obama to his lowest polling number. History shows that to win you must be able to win your home state polling numbers show that Paul does where Romney has no chance in Massachusetts. Ron Paul has won more elections then any other candidate. In 2010 he won with 79% of the vote.

As a former Military Officer, he knows well the needs of our armed forces and will always make sure they have all the tools they need to succeed. He will never let Military retirement or veterans benefits be reduced as recently proposed under Obama, he even wrote an open letter to Obama on honoring Veterans’ benefits. Ron Paul believes in going to war via a declaration under the Constitution from Congress, wining decisively, and not nation building.

He will also balance the budget while honoring our promises to our seniors.
