On Saturday Newt gave a speech to veterans while standing in front of a giant WW2 tank. He didn't serve in the military himself, but he name drops everyone he knows who did serve. And by the way he talks about tanks, you would think he drove one up the streets of Hanoi himself.

I marked off a couple of clips. These are the best parts.

http://www.c-spanvideo.org/program/Wolfeb/start/749/stop/829
- Newt points at the tank and says, "This brings back memories"

http://www.c-spanvideo.org/program/Wolfeb/start/6585/stop/6687
- Newt discussing tank history and tank combat strategy with an old Tank commander. Tank commander talks about the tanks he trained on, and Newt says, "I remember, Im old enough to remember. I grew up with those." Then the tank commander leans in and says "my criticism of Obama was that he never put on the uniform and served" Newt then immediately turns away and says, "yea, tell me about this thing over here!"

Thanks for taking the time to mark those two points in the video......I see that the original video is two hours long!
I would never have made it through.

He is such a loser piece of shit.. The tank brings back memories because his father served the country? What? Did his Dad drive the tank home every night to drive Newt to his draft dodger hearings?

I mean, wtf? The man is a flippin nut job !!!!! Almost as bad as Rick Santorium who forces his very young children to pass around their dead hours old baby... and even sleep with the corpse. Can you imagine the trauma is those young kids lives?

These guys are monsters, and rotten to the core.

I think he was talking about being an army brat. Vaguely, of course, so you could misunderstand....

If Gingrich ever did actually drive a tank, odds are it was one of these:

Im pretty sure that's what hes up up. Im sure many in the audience were under the impression that Newt served in the military. That tank commander dude thought he did.

I'm sure he'd like to know... It'd be nice if there was enough time for him to learn it in a commercial. But maybe a phone call is in order.

And here's my father on the Destroyer Escort USS Cromwell (DE-1014).

My father had a young wife and and brand new daughter at the time the draft came to dad's town. Rather than being drafted as a number of his friends were, my father enlisted in the USN.

Couldn't resist. My dad -former gunners mate- is voting for, and actively supporting Ron Paul.:)

I wonder if there are any other draft era Paul supporters out there....

The director of the Wright Museum needs to understand that Newt, Mitt and Jon never served in the military. He should had realized when Newt quickly changed the subject after he made that political comment.

Maybe we should all send him an email explaining it to him. Norman Stevens, Executive Director norman.stevens@wrightmuseum.org
