George W. Romney was opposed to the war i believe, but early on he supported it. What year was that photo taken?

<blockquote>On August 31, 1967, in a taped interview with talk show host Lou Gordon of WKBD-TV in Detroit, Romney stated: "When I came back from Viet Nam [in November 1965], I'd just had the greatest brainwashing that anybody can get." He then shifted to opposing the war: "I no longer believe that it was necessary for us to get involved in South Vietnam to stop Communist aggression in Southeast Asia." Decrying the "tragic" conflict, he urged "a sound peace in South Vietnam at an early time." Thus Romney disavowed the war and reversed himself from his earlier stated belief that the war was "morally right and necessary"</blockquote>

I think Mitt did missionary stuff in 1966 so those pictures are most likely from early 1966 when his father was still a Vietnam supporter.

Taken at the height of the swinging Sixties, Mr Romney holds a sign declaring 'Speak Out, Don't Sit In' as, alongside like-minded individuals, he proclaims his support for Lyndon Johnson's ever-expanding draft.
But, in a marked contrast to the relaxed dress sense associated with that decade's youth movement, he is wearing smart white slacks, a white buttoned-up shirt and a dark blazer.
A newspaper clipping headlined 'Governor's son pickets the pickets' states: 'Mitt Romney, son of Michigan Gov. George Romney, was one of the pickets who supported the Stanford University administration in opposition to sit-in demonstrators.'
The photograph was taken on May 20, 1966, shortly after a group of students had taken over the office of Stanford University President Wallace Sterling.

The protest was one year before his father came out against the war.

This is a post I made a couple weeks ago, it includes information about Romney and the draft

Ok I looked it up and he would have been drafted in 1969, that year they did the first draft lottery for people born 1944-1950. Rep. King was born on May 28, 1949 so he was eligible. His birthday got the number 308, and the highest number called up for service was 195 out of 366 total numbers so he was safe.

Interestingly, Mitt Romney got number 300 meaning even if he had no gotten college and missionary deferments he still would not have been drafted. I find this convenient for him considering Romney was extremely pro-Vitnam war during his time in France, but all along he knew his chances of being drafted was pretty much zero.

Neither Newt nor Ron were eligible for te draft lotteries, they were born 1943 and 1935 respectively. Newt was drafted but got a deferment for college. I don't know how Ron was actually drafted, he was already 28, married and had 3 children in 1963 when he entered the armed forces. Perry got number 275 in the same lottery as Romney and King but was not called up. He later joined the Air Force on his own in 1972 and served 5 years.

Mitt starting early in his career as shill for the crony capitalist death machine. Reminds me of Gregg Marmalard.
