Re: Help Save the Michigan Presidential Preference Primary!
Fr: Amy Hagerstrom, Chairperson, Michigan Ron Paul 2008
Committee

If the Michigan Presidential Preference Primary is NOT held,
Ron Paul will have NO chance of winning delegates to the
Republican National Convention. If this happens, all of our
efforts in Michigan will have been in vain.

On Tuesday the State Senate and House are scheduled to meet
to enact legislation that would salvage the January 15th
Presidential Primary which was declared “unconstitutional”
by Ingham Circuit Judge William Collette. The Judge ruled
that the provision in the primary law giving voter records
ONLY to the Republican and Democratic Parties amounted to
an appropriation of public property for private use, which
under the State Constitution requires a two-thirds majority
vote. The House vote on the Primary bill fell seven votes
short of that standard. Therefore, the Judge’s ruling
voided the Primary because the law made all provisions
nonseverable.

Ask YOUR legislators to do two things:

1. Support giving IMMEDIATE EFFECT to House Bill No. 4507
so that all the logistics connected with a Presidential
Primary can be accomplished in time for a January 15th
vote. Important: a 2/3 majority vote in the House is
necessary to give the bill Immediate Effect. Without 2/3
vote from the House the bill may be stalled until as late
as November 21 or even December 1.

2. Write a letter to the leadership of their respective
political parties (Republican or Democrat) urging them to
take part in the Primary.

Please act today!

[Adam adds: some talking points available at
http://savemichigansprimary.wordpress.com/ , also mention
that the early date gives Michigan voters a strong voice in
the primary regardless of how many delegates get to sit down
at the national convention; you the average voter won't get
to be a delegate but you want your voice heard in this
important primary.]

This is important people! If the primary is pulled, then we will have no voice in whom the "party" chooses. Write your state Rep and state Senator.

Is Ron doing will in MI? If he is, then this is a problem. If not, this could be a blessing in disguise.

The Michigan Senate passed the Presidential Primary “fix”, but Democrats refused to provide the votes to get “immediate effect”…putting the primary on hold. Still time…but the Democrats are playing games. The Michigan Democrats and the House Democrats in particular appear willing to “blow up” the primary, for petty, political, selfish, self preservationist motives…to protect their hides.

Rumors are abound, that House Democrats want to kill the presidential primary because they are afraid that citizens are going to use the elections to collect recall signatures….shame on them!

OK folks, Michigan Republicans are going to start preparing for a possible alternative state convention. I think the Democrats have completely lost it; they are in “survival” mode and are willing to do whatever they can to raise taxes…while trying to fight off recalls. Citizens should be outraged! I know I am.

We need to stay on top of this.

What is the local rumor on the Michigan vote?

I am not even a Michigan voter and this outrages me. if i was a Michigan Voter i would let the party know that if the people of Michigan do not get a Vote that i will never vote for any of the incumbents in the next election, and i will make sure everyone i talk to knows it and suggest they do the same thing. this is a absolute tragedy to Democracy.
