Recently several local people from Iowa received phone calls staying their were from the Ron Paul for President Campaign (not the real name of the committee) After listening the garbled phone message from Ron Paul, which sounded like the phone was held up to a speaker. We all Declined to donate, preferring to donate online.

I did what I thought was correct and started calling my contacts in the campaign. Everyone I called (high up people in the campaign) said they were unaware of a phone call going out seeking money. And said

Please DO NOT donate to the phone calls

ONLY donate online

Did the message say they needed $10M?

We are truly a 21st century nation when people feel more comfortable donating online than they do through the mail.

the horrid thought is that the phanton robocallers may have cut loose in certain districts and precincts
and when legitimate phone from home people actually call for ron paul, they are encountering the folks
who just got repeatedly called by the phantom group. there may be less of an overlap with all the lists.

It's not a scam.

Just tell people to donate on the site then they are sure who they are giving to, if they donate over the phone could be anyone taking it.
