View Full Version : Which states would Ron Paul win vs. Obama in a general election, compared to Romney?

I've seen some progressive blogs float around an electoral map of the states Mitt Romney would win vs. Obama, with Obama winning the election by about 100 electoral votes, and the degree that each state was contested.

Does anybody have any idea from polling on how Ron Paul performs against Obama in each of the states? Would anyone be able to put it together to give us an idea of how Ron Paul would perform in a general election against Obama, down to how many EVs each would get and which states would be the most contested?

It's one thing to say Ron Paul is electable, but it's another to actually show people the numbers. If we want to get rid of this media driven electability myth Romney has, and the unelectability myth Ron Paul's been given, we need to inspire some confidence using such numbers. Doing so could go a long way to taking the "we just want to beat Obama, we don't care who" crowd who seems to be flocking to Romney.

Idaho would be a landslide victory for Paul, given we're a strongly republican state.

Anyone have a source for state by state polling? Otherwise it'd just be guesses.

The real question here is how would Ron Paul do against Obama in so called "battleground states".

Maybe, though bear in mind that Ron Paul may have the potential to change the electoral map somewhat. While I think it's safe to assume that a state like Texas would always vote republican in either scenario, I would be interested in seeing what degree a state like California would go for Obama if running against Ron Paul.
