Just curious, i've been following the media hype surrounding Iowa and it seems everyone is abandoning the clear GOP front runner. What did Mitt do to suddenly get blacklisted- every channel and talk radio blow hard is talking about Santorum and Newt-even Perry. There's something strange going on- the directive has been handed down- black out Ron Paul and abandon Romney. Theories?

Don't be mistaken, they want Romney elected. They are lowering expectations for him and are pumping up Santorum as the backup plan. If Romney or Santorum win Iowa, Romney will have a clear path to the nomination. It's a whole different ball game if Ron wins.

They are under the false impression that Santorum and Paul will eat each other's voters. The Romney supporters are the old guard "good ole boys" and will vote for him no matter what.

They need Non Paul news coming out of Iowa and nothing Romney does, win or lose will be all that significant. On the other hand, if they can give Santorum a third-or-greater place finish, they have something to talk about rather than Paul. They aren't abandoning Romney, he's just taking a backseat for Iowa.

Remember that the establishment is not homogeneous. They all have their own goals and they often clash with one another. In the end, though, the same result is achieved - more power for government and less power for the individual.

The one thing that they can all agree on is that someone like Paul cannot be elected. He's incorruptible. They will begrudgingly work together if they have to, but they'd rather fight over the power. This is why you have segments of the GOP establishment squabbling, but it's also why the liberal establishment squabbles with the GOP.

Simple. Newt Gingrich said it. MultipleChoiseMitt did not defeat Teddy Kennedy in 1994 even though he came close with 41% of the vote.

"They" want Obama in. They know they can get the evangelicals not to come out for Romney (anti-mormon stuff is easy). They know they can get the Independents to sour on him through class warfare, pegging him as the out of touch, rich guy (bain picture), how he has same policies as Bush (which they say caused this mess), etc. I'm convinced that the only person who has a legitimate shot of beating Obama is RP. I'm not being biased at all.

No way do they want Romney as president.

Make no mistake.. Perry is the establishment candidate of choice. Romney is a decoy who struggles to get past 25% The establishment will wish something like this out of Iowa...

1.Romney (good enough early on)
2. Santorum (wont go the distance)
3. Perry (good enough to keep him alive and relevant but not so obvious that he is their trojan horse "chosen one")
