I was thinking that all the Media hype about Rick Santorum would have caused some sort of glitch in Google trends, what, with all of the interested voters searching for the perfect candidate and all......

Nope. I was wrong.
It's still all Ron Paul.

Dr. Paul is red.
Rick Santorum is blue.

Top graph is Search related.
Bottom is Media Coverage - At least Ron Paul is getting that finally.(Good or Bad.)

It`s pretty obvious who`s surging and who`s not.

I agree that it is media driven but that doesn't mean it isn't effective. The media started yammering about a surge, then the polls started showing one.

We got a surge despite their best efforts to not talk about it.

And in an unrelated post, is it possible that Rick Santorum is actually a vampire? That would explain the lack of a pulse thing....

Thanks Lothario,

Would you mind if I asked how you got this scale? I was wondering if this could be done.

I was also wondering,,,,How did you get the sub-regions and cities to post as one image?

Makes me wonder what the "A" flag is where everyone but Ron Paul peaked at the same time.....I'll have to look that up.

Edit:
I've sort of figured out how you got the scale....Still didn't figure out what the "A" flag was. My scale still seems to be different (Over the last 30 days).

This is interesting....I found that you can look at Google trends for my home state (Santorum's as well) Rick Santorum is the LEAST covered politician here:

http://www.google.com/trends/viz?q=ron+paul,+rick+santorum,+newt+gingrich,+mitt +romney&date=mtd&geo=usa.pa&graph=weekly_img&sort=0&sa=N

Dr. Paul - blue.
Rick Santorum - red.

There should be a drop-down on the top-right of the page. Pick "Last 30 Days" instead of "All Years".

(A) and (C) represent that last two debates. Paul had a local peak with the rest of them. Perry didn't peak because he was dropping from his earlier peak due to the anti-gay ad he released.

The only thing surging is the blood pressure of the elites who thought they had us under control.

the media wants Santorum, for different reasons. Fox-because they think he can win, and will start wars; MSNBC-because they think he will lose to to their socialist. CNN-the first to push poll for Santorum, because BB told Wolf he's their guy?

I agree.
