This was on Meet the Press this morning, in reference to Egypt's elections and the Muslim Brotherhood winning. He said something to the effect that democracy doesn't matter if the Islamic party wins.

The idea that Islamic rule is about peace, freedom, and democracy is about as defensible as the claim that Nazism is about peace, freedom, and democracy.

I think we should be very careful when it comes to appeasing Muslims, White Nationalists, Stalinists, and other groups that for some strange reason find Ron Paul's message of freedom appealing. We should be happy for their support, but always distance ourselves from ideologies that are ultimately collectivist and hostile toward liberty.

You miss the point here. Islam is NOT the issue. The issue is that Rick Santorum said today that democracy doesn't count when it results in an Islamic regime. He could have said that in relation to any other political or religious philosophy and the effect would be the same: He believes we should decide when democracy works or not.

OP isn't saying that democracy is wonderful. He's saying that Santorum should be called onto the carpet for agitating to export democracy, then when the results don't go as planned, decry democracy.

You think out of all the things he said in that interview that him not believing in democracy is the biggest? The whole bombing Iran and claiming Islam to be evil thing is big.
