This is ironic because Santorum is well known for his anti-gay views while Lieberman was a huge supporter for repealing "Don't ask, Don't Tell" and having gays serve openly in the military.

That would indeed be ironic. He claims to be a big supporter of Israel and its military but opposes US military to be like Israel's where gays can serve openly.
