View Full Version : What can we do to regain our lead?

We officially have 72 hours until the Caucus. We've slipped behind Romney due to a surge of Santorum. What can/should/will be done to regain our lead? I'm talking about any ideas you have. Commercials, projects, anything. This is big.

We should stop freaking out and execute the plan that the campaign has had for 6 months.

Not much. Donate to the campaign, make as many calls as possible and promise all the beer in the world to the volunteers on the ground in Iowa if they bring us a win.

41% say they can change their mind. We need to go to war over the next 3 days and make this happen.

Google NDAA articles and put in comment sections about voting/caucusing for Ron Paul to make sure Obama has to face civil liberties as an issue in the campaign. They can still vote for Obama in the end if they are convinced he is better, but Ron is the only presidential candidate who opposed NDAA and SOPA and the Patriot Act. Tweet it, too.

41 percent of likely caucusgoers say they could still be persuaded to change their minds.

We need great stump speeches, and something in Iowa besides the Christmas with Ron Paul thing. Good performances by Ron on the news this weekend are also a neccesity.

occupy des moines is sending protesters to Obama's headquarters over NDAA, shouldn't these people be caucusing for Ron?

I'm talking about people who have fresh incentive with NDAA.

We actually have a strong campaign / ground org this time versus 2008... all we should do at this time is donate and phone from home - let people who actually can do something on the ground handle GOTV

Remember, the campaign has been very hush hush about everything lately - they are keeping their cards close to their chest for a reason

Go RP!!

Internet ads to bring in Democrats is something we can do on short notice. Take a look at this thread:

I agree with ssmoler, there is nothing we can do from in front of our computers to impact Iowa. It's the boots on the ground and hopefully some well-prepared caucus speeches. Let's get this caucus over with, the suspense is killing me.

Another idea is to get one of the grassroots pages that already exists to add something to their home page that would make it an appropriate link.

We aren't behind. We are ahead. But we should always play as if we are 10 points behind.

Wait until Wednesday then either proceed as planned (or hire a new campaign manager), whichever the results dictate.

Winning Iowa would mean disproving the whole system. We have to prove the DMR wrong. 4 years from now we CAN'T let them say "we got it right last time".

Regain? Ron is in the lead. He's going to blow out the Iowa caucus by 5-10 points. Ron supporters will show, the other candidates might show.

Right. Very few will change their minds this close to the election. We must GOTV. If we do that, we got a fighting chance.

This.

Trust in the process and avoid being in fear (common examples of fear are building expectations, being negative).

We're working on NH and NV.

Those in Iowa need to stand in front of grocery stores and do some preaching and handing out of pamphlets

I'll tell you right now it's complete bullshit. How can someone get 10% in a day, just because the news said so? They're setting the precedent for us to not think the election was stolen when they count their votes in their "undisclosed" location.

Don't worry, Paul will have people standing by watching the vote count.

Better to call the campaign office and volunteer for door to door. You will have a much more targeted effect that way. Less than 1% of IA residents will caucus.

First of all we may still have the lead since there was no Dems in this poll.

And second, we just keep doing what we have been doing. Call from home, door knock, and on Tuesday, get the vote out!

Don't worry about Santorum, that is completely manufactured and made for TV lie. He is not surging, He might break above 10% barely, but won't be anywhere near 20%.

I drove I-29 from Omaha, NE back home to Kansas City, MO this afternoon. I didn't see any bumper stickers or signs for any candidate besides Paul. At every exit off I-29 in Iowa someone has put up Ron Paul 2012 signs. Met an entire family at Nebraska Furniture Mart wearing Ron Paul hats, shirts, and bumper stickers. In the end I came to the conclusion that its going to come down to Iowans bringing friends, relatives, and co-workers to vote not the media.

Attack Santorum!

This. Note that Santorum voted to double the size of the Department of Education and Ron Paul wants to eliminate it. Do an ad about Ron Paul views on education. Note that Santorum voted for No Child Left Behind.
