Ron Paul could really take advantage of the OWS situation. He will definitely be heckled again. Next time he needs to do something radical...
INVITE the hecklers up ON STAGE!
Let them speak. Show his commitment to free speech. Ron Paul is all about the right to free speech. We have seen enough footage of hecklers being pushed out of stadiums. Let them have the mic! Give them 5 minutes until they run out of steam. Show them respect and politely disagree on points of difference. Then, most importantly talk about how he has for a long time fought against wall street, excessive corporate power and the military industrial complex. Give examples of the way he has voted. This would give a powerful message. It would make massive waves, generate headlines and powerfully demonstrate that the Tea Party and OWS can unite. The problem isnt socialism or capitalism, its corporatism. He needs to make this point powerfully to both the Tea Party and to OWS. If he can somehow shift the focus of the arguments from the divisive to the root of the problem, the military industrial complex. Remember when Nader came out in support of Ron Paul, focussing on the important ideas we all share rather than the niggling ones that divide us.
This would truly show that Ron Paul is a different kind of candidate. This would energize his base and the entire country. It would put him firmly on the side of the downtrodden and the underdog, the very thing that has shot him to where he is now. In fact a large part of the campaign should be focussed on making this message clear, the Tea Party and OWS can unite. I know that Dr Paul has started to do this, but to invite an OWS member on stage would be a powerful symbol of how things would be different under President Paul.
Anonymous and OWS have vowed to disrupt the Republican primaries, if he comes out and listens to them publicly, he will mobilise an enormous force a. in support of his campaign and b. against those of his rivals. He should go and speak at OWS rallies or maybe even organise a roundtable with some of its representatives. By ushering them out of his rallies, he is playing into the hands of those that seek to divide. If anyone has Ron Paul's ear, please suggest this strategy!
